imagine: after seeing another girl answer felix's door, you start to lose hope for your relationship with him - until you realise it was all a misunderstanding.
y/n's pov
it was obvious felix had moved on quickly - it was pointless for you to try to get him back again.
didn't he think he was being unfair? you'd already accepted that the breakup was your fault. that night you fought, he tried to understand what was wrong with you, he tried to fix things but quickly gave in. and, now? now he'd found someone else without a single word.
you wanted to go back to explain, you wanted to apologise and tell him you miss him - now it was impossible. there's no way he'd listen to you, and there's no way he'd let you put him through that all over again. you couldn't possibly imagine how hurt he felt by your ignorance and how distant you were. it was already so hard on him, and your unnecessary attitude had just pushed him to the edge. he'd had enough once and for all, clearly.
"y/n!" felix had followed you, watching you try to leave quickly, "i can explain!"
that was just it. you didn't want him to explain. he'd gone through a lot, but so had you. you were always scared of something like this happening, you just waited until it would happen.
you stopped unknowingly, trying to push yourself to continue walking away, but your legs refused to keep moving.
"i don't want you to explain," dropping your head, you turned to face felix, who was slowly making his way towards you.
"just let me-"
"stop," you were blunt, and your tone was harsh, which urged him to step back slightly. he no longer knew how to react to your words or your orders.
"y/n..." he seemed out of breath, or he was just frustrated, "can we talk inside?"
"there's not much to say," you stared down at the floor, trying to gain confidence. he was shocked to see your hand extended out to him, a fake smile on your face, "let's agree to be friends."
"w-what-" he gulped, "is that what you wanted to say?"
of course it wasn't, but that was the only thing you'd managed to say.
"really?"
you nodded hesitantly, it was obvious to him - your smile was clearly falsely put on, but he pretended as if he didn't notice.
"if that's what you want," he shrugged, nodding to you and taking your hand, except he didn't pull away.
the two of you were reluctant to pull away, his hand felt so warm against yours, and you missed his touch. this would be the last time you'd make contact with him, so you just wanted it to last as long as it could.
his eyes reddened as he began to blink away the tears, readying to pull his arm away. you didn't let him go. your eyes focused on his hand, lips quivering as you tried to force the words from your lips. but, he wouldn't wait anymore. he snatched his hand from yours, turning to walk away whilst throwing his head back.
your hand was stuck in the same position, clenching your fist as you held tightly onto thin air, just waiting for his touch again. you could still feel his hand in yours, except he was no longer there. he wasn't waiting, and he wasn't holding on.
he looked back in hopes he'd see you coming back to him, but he felt hurt at the sudden glance at your tears. he stood there for some time, just looking at you, and he continued to wonder what he did wrong. you believed he moved on quickly, but it didn't make sense to you; that wasn't what happened.
he simply asked a friend for advice - he wanted to apologise to you, he just didn't know how.
your mere assumption had ruined everything for yourself, as well as felix.
"i miss you," he spoke under his breath.
