imagine: you were given your last call, or so you thought
y/n's pov
you could only look at the time set aside you.
51 minutes. 12 seconds.
the clock had started the second your call with hyunjin had ended.
no words were spoken, just silence. you despised being alone with your thoughts. you sat in a dark room with your eyes closed, the dark wasn't enough, you couldn't see hyunjin. but, when you closed your eyes, he was all you could see.
hyunjin runs over to you with open arms, his face sweaty as he brushed back his hair. "was it good?" he grinned, pleased to see you.
you smiled and kissed his dripping cheek, "you did great."
he loved hearing you praise him, it was all he ever thought about at the end of a concert. he'd patiently wait before running backstage, his hands all over you as he listened to you tell him how amazed you were by him. every time, you admired him even more.
"you're coming to the next one, right?"
"of course, i am," your thumb ran along his cheek, his lips just inches from yours, "i wouldn't miss it for the world."
you snapped back into reality. it was a lie. you promised him you'd be there. you promised you'd be waiting backstage for him. it wasn't entirely a lie, you did go. but you weren't there for him at the end, he didn't get to hear you praising him once more. and you knew that was the last time. it was the last chance you had. if you knew any sooner, you'd have made it so much more special. you'd have taken your time to show your adoration for him.
45 minutes. 35 seconds.
all you could do was pray. not for yourself, not for your own safety. but, for hyunjin's happiness. you'd pray that he'd forget, that he'd be praised by someone else. and you prayed for that person to praise him more than you ever did. it wasn't enough.
the time you'd spent in that dark room all alone, you'd kept your mouth shut. you were silent the entire time. and you'd had enough. there was only 45 minutes left for you to call out at least once. if anyone could hear you... just, anyone... you didn't want someone to hear you, though. in reality, you just wanted to say his name again. you wanted his name to be the last thing you said, you wanted to cry for him like he cried for you. and in your last moments, that's exactly what you did.
"hyunjin!" you belted out at the top of your lungs, struggling in the chair you'd been tied to. "hyunjin, i'm okay!"
the doors swung open and a glimpse of light shot through, blinding you from the men stood with tightened fists. your chair was forced still, the ropes around you grew tighter with every struggle, you felt it burning your skin as you shuffled away from the clutches of built men grabbing at your body.
this would be your last chance to fight for your life.
"where is he?!" you screamed, bellowing in their ears as you watched them fret away at the shrieking sound of your voice. "where's hyunji-" your voice was muffled by the palm pressed against your lips, the sound echoing through the gaps between his fingers.
your head was pushed back as he grasped at your throat, hushing the other men in the room as he listened out to the sound of sirens. you smirked under his hand, you knew it would be hyunjin.
"found him," you spoke in a muffled tone, still refused speech by the tightened hand against you.
lights beamed against the walls and you could finally exhale.
out of pure fear, the men fled from the dark room you were once in, leaving you to sit alone once more. and, now, you just waited.
you were finally greeted by a group of paramedics who had rushed to your side to aid to you. your ropes were cut, you were free. you felt so angry, you couldn't even cry. staring at the floor, you rubbed your hands over the burns and scars on your body. for the first time ever, you'd felt ashamed of yourself. you never thought there'd be a time where you'd let someone like that touch you in such a way. you were disgusted by yourself.
holding your legs up against your chest, you sat in silence and your body shook. you tried to hide your bruised skin as much as you could, you felt so... disgusting. the things you let them do to you, you'd never come back from that. until you looked up to see the tall silhouette stood in the door. once again, you felt safe. you felt at peace.
hyunjin dropped to his knees in front of you, his hands trailing over your cuts, the dried blood on your skin brushed away with a gentle scrape. his head fell into your lap as he sat and cried. he knew at this time he should be comforting you, he should be holding you in his arms and telling you everything would be okay now. but, he just couldn't. his entire world collapsed when you left, and he began rebuilding the second he lay his head on you knowing you would be safe.
his soft cries brought a tear to your eye. you'd never felt so loved. hyunjin didn't even need to speak, you knew exactly how he felt. you were scared you were running out of time with him, so you desperately needed this moment just to sit with him and smile. it was the first time you'd smiled in so long.
you were home.
