imagine: sungwoo and changbin gave you time to figure out your feelings, so you finally chose who you wanted.
y/n's pov
a week had passed now. both, sungwoo and changbin, had given you time to figure out what you wanted. or, even, who you wanted. even after seven days, it was still a tough decision. were you really prepared to throw everything away with sungwoo for changbin? you knew he was in love with you, but you didn't know how far he was planning on going. sungwoo was everything you wanted, you couldn't just trade him in for someone you claimed to love.
"i can't," you gulped, looking up at sungwoo, "i can't choose."
he dropped his head and nodded. he understood what he had to do. "if you can't choose then i'm leaving you."
"sungwoo-"
"i've made it clear how i feel about this. i gave you time to figure it out and you still can't do that. it was simple. who did you want? that's all i asked. and i can't even get an answer for that."
you tugged his arm back, hoping he'd stay.
"y/n," he sighed, yanking his arm away from your grip, "i told you. i'm done."
"please, don't go..." you wanted to be him to stay, but he wouldn't. as long as you didn't have an answer, he'd keep walking further away from you.
"you know," he stopped, turning back as he licked his teeth out of frustration, "if it was literally anyone else, i think i'd have handled it better. i'd say we could work it out."
your shoulders dropped.
"but..." he started, inhaling deeply as he nodded, "...changbin's my friend. don't get me wrong, i'm just as mad at him as i am with you. it wasn't just your fault. it was his. and it was mine."
"sungwoo-"
"i'm sorry i didn't spend much time with you. i'm sorry if i didn't make you feel wanted. it's my fault, too." with his bag in his hand, he walked towards you with a weak smile and held out his hand to cup your cheek. he pressed a gentle kiss on your forehead as a goodbye. "i love you."
he stepped back to leave once more, but you couldn't help but hold him back. you gripped your hand onto his, pressing him against your cheek. you couldn't just watch him leave so easily. you'd have the same reaction if it was changbin. you didn't want either of them to leave.
"am i interrupting something?"
you halted at the hushed voice of changbin stood in the doorway, watching how you cried for sungwoo's leave of absence.
sungwoo stared down at you and turned to face changbin. rather than greeting him, or even saying goodbye, he nudged past him in the doorway. you couldn't stop him now.
"y/n..." changbin started, clearing his throat.
sungwoo stopped in his tracks and clenched his fists around the strap of his bag.
"go home, changbin."
if sungwoo didn't want you, then you didn't want changbin. like he said, changbin was his friend. it felt wrong. the second you told him to go home, sungwoo unclenched his fists and sighed in relief. he could finally leave you without having a judgemental grudge against either of you.
"i won't choose either of you," you shook your head, waiting for sungwoo to continue walking away. "i lost you when i started dating sungwoo," you gulped as you stared at changbin, "and now i've lost sungwoo because i'm not just in love with him. so, i won't choose. it's impossible."
sungwoo turned to face you, just a short distance away from the doorway.
"sungwoo," you started, tears streaming down your face as you smiled at him, "i love you, so i'll find you again."
changbin looked back at him and dropped his head, he knew he wouldn't have a chance.
"and, changbin," you exhaled, "i love you, too. so, maybe i'll find you again. who knows?"
the two boys smiled at you. you finally understood. you didn't need to choose anyone. you'd just wait for fate.
