imagine: you leave your house after an argument with hyunjin, but, to him, he values your life more than his.
y/n's pov
you grabbed your phone from your pocket, dialling your best friend; jeongin.y/n:
jeongin, is it okay if i stay with you tonight?
jeongin:
mmh, of course. what's wrong?
y/n:
hyunjin and i had an argument... i don't wanna be with him right now.
jeongin:
do you need me to pick you up?
y/n:
no. it's fine. i'm already on my way.
y/n hangs up
you made your way down the path, coming up to a four way intersection. you lived just outside the city, which made it easier for you to get away from hyunjin; you knew you'd be able to hide yourself in the crowds of people once you crossed the multiple roads.
"baby, i'm sorry!" you heard hyunjin far back, yelling to you as he tried to catch up.
you walked faster, gripping onto your coat as you held it tightly around your body, the cold air hitting you unexpectedly.
the reason you ran was simple. seeing him with another girl just caught you offguard, what was worse is that he didn't even flinch. the second you got home, you hoped you could run into his arms, you expected cuddles and showers of kisses like you usually got every night after your shift, but instead? instead you came home to seeing a girl sat with him, their faces just inches apart as she stared down at his lips, and what did he do? he froze. he didn't move, he didn't flinch, but, at the same time, he showed no signs of affection towards her. which made you think... maybe he didn't actually do anything. but he didn't move away, so, for now, you needed to get away, which is why you were staying at jeongin's for the night.
"please, stop... talk to me!" the sound of his yells started to echo as you got closer to the road, horns blaring from all four different sections.
he kept getting closer, you could him already panting as he continued to run towards you, "listen to me, baby!" he sobbed.
you found it strange how he ran after you, he could've smply left a voicemail, or he could've left a message, or he could've given you space. but, it gave you all the more reason to think he really did care. if he didn't care, he wouldn't be chasing after you at 11:30pm whilst it's pitch black.
you started to speed up once you turned around, watching him get closer by the second, "please stop following me..." you yelled out, hoping he'd hear you over the loud blaring of horns as well as police sirens passing by.
he got closer and closer, until, eventually, he was just inches away from you, and you were just inches away from the road crossing.
you quickened your pace, looking down at your feet.
you started to cross without even looking up to the road, without even realising the cars were still moving at 60mph, without realising that a car's headlights were shining right on you, the horn piercing your ears.
"y/n!" hyunjin screamed, you felt a pair of hands attach themselves to your back, pushing you harshly as you fell to the floor, rolling across the tarmac as you did so.
your vision turned blurry as you looked up, the back wheels of a car completely filling your sight. you went dizzy for just a second, your body freezing, you could still feel the pressure of someone's hands on your back, and your head throbbed immensely.
screams blasted through your ears, shadowy figures hovering over you or around you, other crowds of people fleeing from the incident.
you lifted your head from the ground with caution, looking up to see no familiar faces, people holding their hands out to you, others with their phones against their ears, and others yelling absolute nonsense out of pure fear.
you hesitated to turn your head, but you did so, slowly and carefully, before widening your eyes at the body lay lifelessly on the floor. you started to crawl, using your elbows to drag yourself along the road. the lights of cars flashing on the body weren't enough to help you identify who it was, if it wasn't for your blurry vision you'd be able to see who it was clearly.
you grunted as you felt your head throb more, an intense pain coursing through your body, leading you to the idea that you'd hit your head.
as you made your way closer to the crowd, the identity of the lifeless body came into focus.
"h-hyunj-jin..." you stuttered, seeing his head lie on a puddle of blood, his body sprawled out across the floor. "h-hyunjin!" you started to get louder, tears filling your eyes. seeing hyunjin lay motionless gave you motivation to sit up, moving closer to his body as you lifted his head onto your lap, "hyunjin..." you stroked his cheek before placing your hand on his chest, your coat now smothered in blood. you lowered your ear closer to his lips, trying to feel even just one breath, but you felt...nothing. "hyunjin, wake up..." you cried, stroking his hair back, "baby, wake up."
you felt your tears fall down your face, dripping onto his cheek, "hyunjin, come on. come on, wake up." you continuously called out to him, shaking his head in hopes he'd move or at least do something. anything.
but, again...he didn't move. he didn't breathe. he lay silent in your arms.
"you have to wake up...come on, you have to!" you shook his body, tryng to wake him up, "hyunjin! hyunjin, please!" the sound of sirens started to fill your ears, coloured lights entering your vision as ambulances started to get closer. "baby, wake up!" you screamed, rocking yourself back and forth with him in your arms, "wake up...." your sobs grew louder, your eyes bloodshot.
you begged for him to wake up, for him to open his eyes, for him to smile at you, for him to kiss your cheek, your forehead, your lips, your hand...and for him to tell you he loves you.
"you can't...you can't leave... y-you need to wake up." your cheeks felt warm as you pressed your fingers across his cold cheek, "wake...up..." you pressed a kiss on his forehead, stroking his cheek in comfort, "you're okay, alright? i've got you...i've got you, just wake up..." you held tightly onto him, "please, jinnie...i love you..."
