~Crimson's POV~
Yeah. I know what you're thinking. Who the hell names their kid Crimson Angel? Well, my fucked up biological alcoholic father did. He was probably drunk when I was born. Anyways, you know I am definitely nothing like my sister, Aubrey. Now, Aubrey was a plastic. A Barbie doll. Just like all the other teenagers at my old high school.
They are the wannabes. She wore make up, she fangirled over One Direction, and she buys all her clothes from Forever 21.
Typical teenage girl, am I right?
Oh, so now you're all like, "I hate stereotypes! Also, why do you look so much different than your sister?"
The answer to that question my fellow humans, is that I am adopted. I was left on the streets at the age of 5, and I got into serious trouble. At the age of 11 I started using drugs, I drank alcohol hoping it would drown out my emotions, and I became a thief. Then, when I turned 14, I was adopted by my new family.
I never had enough money to dye my hair, but as soon as I reached Aubrey's house, I asked my new mother if I could borrow some money, go to the store, and get some hair dye. My mom is really a go-with-the-flow kinda person. I got my hair dyed jet black, I got my lip pierced and my nose. Also a few other places around my eyebrow and lips, I just don't usually wear them.
I love my sister. I don't care if she is a white girl. She is my family.
I strap the bullet-proof vest on and pick up a gun. I feel the cold metal on my skin and smile. I can't wait until this war starts. My mind corrects me. How could you think that? Your sister will get hurt!
I take a deep breath and march with the small army we've formed. Allensville has gotten stronger and stronger, and when the war starts, we will win. I know for sure.
"Left! Left right left!" The sergeant yells as we march along. Ugh, what I would give to be at home, listening to Ozzy Osbourne. I sigh as 'Crazy Train' plays in my head.
"Crazy," I hum to myself. "but that's how it goes. Millions of people, living life as foes. Maybe, it's not--"
"Soldier Crimson!" I hear the sergeant practically yell in my ear. I snap out of my Ozzy daydream and narrow my eyes at him. "I'm not a soldier, and what could you possibly want?!"
He stares at me, eyes narrowed and jaw clenched as he murmurs, "That is no way to address a sergeant. Drop down and give me 50! That goes for all of you, courtesy of Soldier Crimson."
I hear multiple people say 'what the hell' or 'ughh'. Jeez people, it's just 50 push-ups!
I slowly lower myself to the asphalt and get in push-up position. The other soldiers mutter, "1...2...3...4..."
And by the time we reached 15, I was already lost in the 80's.
I quietly sing, "Mental wounds not healing, life's a bitter shame. I'm going off the rails on a crazy train..."
* * *
Bang!
The loud sound of the gun rings in my ears after I shoot a bullet. Bullseye!
I hit my target perfectly and I smirked smugly while reloading my rifle.
"Alright," the sergeant says while eyeing me. "target practice is over."
I walk towards my assigned room when one of the soldiers stops me. "Hey Crim," he says, flashing his pearly whites. I roll my eyes and say, "Zac, I already told you that I am not good with relationships and I don't have feelings for you. Goodbye."
I walk away when he stops me AGAIN. I thought I made clear to him the last 10 times he's asked me out!
"Can we just hang out? Shoot some targets? That's all I'm asking for. By the way, you did great today at practice."
I chuckle and sigh. "Alright. Just hanging out." He smiles and scurries away.
I go back to my small apartment and take a warm shower. As I step out, I look in the mirror. I cringe at the sight of the girl staring back at me. Don't go all 'Oh, you're insecure! Awwwww why doesn't that Zac boy fall in love with you and marry you and solves all your private problems you've kept hidden from everyone!'
Seriously?
Yeah, then unicorns can start jumping on rainbows and shit.
