Derek and I were walking towards the big, old house. It cast long, dark shadows across the grass. For some reason every time I walked nearer, I sensed something. I didn't know what it was until it hit me: dark magic. Now don't call me stupid for believing in magic, because this wasn't any kind of magic. It was more like summoning the dead. Or even worse, the praise of the devil.
"Are you sure about this Derek?" I said nervously, "I mean, you actually have a life. You might not wanna waste it." I muttered. I mean I kinda have a life, but it sucks.
He stared at me and started to say something as we approached the front door, but the door swung open.
"Well, that's a start." I said, trying to be optimistic.
His expression looked pale, like he was looking straight at death himself. I smiled. Derek knew I was the perfect girl for this, because I never get scared of "ghosts" and stuff. I never do. Unless, it is Alyssa.
The inside of the house looked the same as it used to, a fancy sofa, a giant portrait of some guy, and photos of their family --but they were smeared with blood.
There was blood all over the place. I could tell Derek stopped moving as soon as he saw this, but I kept on moving towards the sofa.
"A-Alex...I don't know a-about this..." He stuttered.
I turned around. "It is completely fine Derek!" I said with a laugh. I zoned out, thinking of all the reasons why everything was okay. Then my mind traveled to a daydream,
I laughed for a while, but then I stopped. At least I tried to. I was laughing uncontrollably, and I felt a hand run down my back. I turned around, but there was no one there. The room got colder and colder as I laughed so hard it hurt my stomach.
"Derek!" I said while laughing, "Make it stop!" I shrieked.
I fell on my knees, finally I stopped laughing. I looked on the shiny wood floor and saw my reflection. My nose was bleeding. Blood dripped to the floor, erasing my reflection until all I could see was a puddle of blood.
"D-Do you have a tissue, Derek?" I asked.
I stood up, feeling weak, but I managed to turn around.
"Derek?" He was sitting on the floor.
I snapped back to reality.
I wiped my nose, and nothing was there. No blood.
I walked towards Derek, who was staring at the ground. Feeling unsure, I took a step closer. But I knew it was him. So confidently, I dragged him to stand up.
"I..I'm okay, Alex." He said.
I nodded, and we walked to a door and I saw a piece of paper on the floor. It said:
Come to the cabin Alex. Come to me. There you will find the answers. You know which cabin...
-Alyssa
As we walked toward the open front door, the door shut. I opened it, but it was locked. "DEREK!" I yelled. "Quickly, help!"
He ran towards me. We had to leave quickly. I heard a door from upstairs creak.
No! I thought, she is coming!
I saw Alyssa slowly walk down the stairs as we twisted the knob. We tried pounding the door down as she came nearer, but it wasn't working. We tried kicking the door at the same time, but that didn't work either.
"We are screwed.." I said in despair.
Then it hit me. I don't know how, but some kind of enchantment popped in my head.
"Ik beveel je om deze deur te openen!" I yelled quickly.
The door swung opened and we ran towards my house, where we would be safe. The door shut as we ran off, trapping Alyssa inside.
"What the heck was that?" Derek asked.
"I don't really know. It kind of popped in my head." I said.
He shrugged, and we walked towards my home. He stopped and looked in my eyes.
I tried to avoid eye contact, but I finally looked at him.mI didn't know what caused me, but I ran into his arms and let a tear shed from my eyes.
He smiled at me and said, "You are brave, you know?"
I shrugged and held onto him before letting go.
We went inside and the moment my eyes looked in there, I panicked.
Blood was splattered all over the room, and it looked like those Halloween attractions at Fright Fest. But no, it wasn't even close to Halloween.
I looked at the ground. It wasn't just some random puddles of blood, they were words.
This is what the words said:
Come to the cabin. You will find your mom...
"Oh no..." I murmured.
I ran out the door getting nearer and nearer to the cabin. As I ran, I felt exhilarated. No Alex, this isn't good. I thought, No she got her, she got my mom...
"Wait Alex! Wait up!" Derek called. I didn't stop, but he soon caught up with me.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"The cabin." I said.
"But why?" He said.
Then it hit me: he couldn't see the words. He could only see the blood. The words were made by Alyssa, only for me to see them.
I looked at him while running and said,"To find my mom."
I was going to save her. I already lost Alyssa from my cowardice, and I wasn't going to lose my mom.
And at that moment, I remembered what "The Savior" meant.
"I will get you mom," I whispered to myself, "I will be the savior."
