Panic and confusion shot through me as I gasped. Where did that boy go, and why is he here? The words, "Alexandra! I will find you some day!" rang through my ears as I ran after Jeremy. "Hey! Don't go!" I yelled as he disappeared into the woods.

I kept on running, and as the clumsy person I am, I tripped over a stick and fell to the ground with a thud.

"Alex!" Derek called. He had a strange expression on his face as he said, "What is wrong with you today?!"

I looked down and started to stand up. I couldn't gain the courage to look him in the eye, so I walked away from him, towards Jeremy's direction. I sighed and tears started to fill my eyes. Why is this all so confusing? Why can't my life be normal, like everybody else's?!

I kept on telling myself that it was just a dream, that I would wake up to a perfectly normal life. After repeating it so many times, I almost believed it.

"Wake up!" I whispered. I shut my eyes and hit my forehead. "Wake up...wake up..." My voice was merely a whisper.

"You know, sometimes it's like I don't even know you. Not that you know me that well." As soon as the words escaped his lips, I was crushed. My eyes began to water as I said, "What is that supposed to mean, 'Not that you know me that well'?" I said, my voice failing to be strong.

He suddenly widened his eyes and said, "Alexandra, I'm sorry, I didn't mean for you to hear that, I--"

"Whatever," I muttered loud enough for him to hear.

Then, it was all gone. All the hope of living in a normal world, where everything was perfect. It was taken from me. Stolen.

Gone.

I stopped and stared at the moon for a second. I had to finish this...mission, that's what we'll call it, or else I might never be in peace.

I sighed and turned around to walk to the cabin.

Derek just stared at me until he realized that Jeremy was gone. "Oh...that's what this is about. Jeremy...Where is he?"

I shook my head and continued walking.

After walking in silence for about 10 minutes, Derek asked me, "What happened, Alex? Why did you run?"

I glanced at him and simply mumbled, "Because of Jeremy."

He cocked his head to the side, obviously confused. I sighed and said, "You aren't going to believe what I am about to tell you, but I guess I'll still tell you the story."

I began about the events that happened at Starbucks.

As I told him the story, his clenched fists became white from squeezing so hard.

"Well, how do you know it was him?" He asked hopefully.

I shrugged and said, "He was wearing a black hoodie and he ran away suspiciously."

He cringed at the thought of someone hurting me. Why was he so protective of me?

He just stared ahead, and the cabin came into view.

~Derek's POV~

As Alex told me the story, I wished I could snap his head in half. How could my Jeremy, my friend, do this?

I knew Jeremy well, and there was no reason at all on why he wanted to hurt Alex. Maybe he is working with the governor, a part of me thought. No, no way. He was helping me defeat the governor, right?

I stared at the ground as Alex, Alyssa, and I sat in the couch in awkward silence.

"Where is Jeremy?" Alyssa asked for the 10th time.

"Look...Alyssa," Alex spit out her name, "I don't know who you think you are, coming into my life and destroying it, then coming back and trying to fix things! I don't know where your jerk of a brother is, and I shouldn't care. Just go awa--"

"Alex!" I snapped at her. She smiled in amusement.

"Oh, so now you're on her side? Derek...she terrorized us all these years, how could you forgive her?? She is just a stupid little--"

"I said that's enough." I snapped calmly.

She sighed and glared at Alyssa. Alex just didn't understand.

Finally, after a 10 minute long awkward silence, Alyssa said, "Alex, I am sorry for anything I ever did to you. It wasn't my fault! It was the governor's!"

I closed my eyes at the drama.

Alex's eyes widened. "You mean, The Governor? My dad talked about him. Something about an evil man who--"

Alex's voice stopped. I shot my eyes open to find Alyssa staring at me, and Alex...gone.

"Alex? Alex?!?! ALEX!!" I yelled into the forest.

Panic took over as I began to officially realize that she was gone.

~Jeremy's POV~

I pulled her lifeless body into the trunk of the car as I quickly escaped the forest. As I entered The Governor's "lair", I wondered whether or not that I was doing the right thing.

"Here she is." I muttered to The Governor as he grabbed her arm and dragged her into Alyssa's old nook.

The Governor smiled in amusement as she woke up in complete confusion, fright, and darkness.

You know what? Being evil isn't as bad as I thought.
