I slowly walked into my house, preparing for what was in the inside. But everything, all the blood, was gone. Like nothing had happened.I sighed and lied down on the couch. I was exhausted from all that had happened today, and the liquid in the vial my dad gave me made my headache even worse.
My head throbbed and my arms and legs wreathed with pain from running. I just closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
~Derek's POV~
I sat by Alex as she peacefully slept. Her golden hair shined from the remaining light left that the sun gave us.
The bright sun slowly sank into the ground as I decided I would sleep too. Just when I closed my eyes, Alex breathed heavily and tears streamed down her cheeks.
I worriedly shot my eyes open and wrapped my arms around her. As soon as hugged her, her tensed body became relaxed. I smiled.
"Hey." She mumbled, her eyes still closed.
"Hey, Alex. Sleep well?" I asked while stroking her hair. She nodded groggily and stifled a yawn. I laughed.
"What's so funny?" She asked while stretching out her arms.
I shrugged and helped her stand up.
She raised onto her toes to give me a quick hug. I could feel her smile as I closed my eyes.
"Hey, sorry to interrupt, but time to go Alex." A voice said.
I was startled by the appearance of her dad. Alex looked confused. "Go where?" She asked.
He burrowed his eyebrows and said, "Well we certainly can't stay here."
I let go of Alex and stepped forward. "Why not? It's perfectly safe here." I crossed my arms.
He smiled sympathetically and said, "I know you want Alex to stay here, Derek. And I get that. But it's not safe enough. We have to go somewhere else."
Alex said, "Fine. Alyssa can't leave this place, right?" She looked down. "Derek, you should come too."
I stared at her. "Why?"
She looked into my eyes. "You're not safe anymore..." She trailed off.
I understood what she meant. I was in danger now. Alyssa would destroy everything Alex loved, and that includes me.
I nodded and said, "Let me call my mom to tell her." I took my phone out of my pocket and dialed her number.
Ring...Ring...Ring...Ring...Ring...
She didn't answer.
"Please leave a message after the tone." The voice said.
Beep...
"Hey mom. I was just wondering if--"
Ring...Ring...Ri-
I answered the Unknown number.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Derek...I need help. My chest....my chest...." My mom said.
I heard a loud thud and dead silence came from the phone.
"Mom?" I said. No answer...
"Mom?!" I asked again, a bit more worried this time.
Nothing. I sighed and ended the call.
