Fiona's POV

I was first in line to get my clock reset, despite Hugh's protesting.
"Fee, I'm just saying we should let other less important people go first!"
"Screw you!" Someone yelled.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
"Fine, but I'll be waiting for you as soon as your done, alright?" I nodded and kissed his cheek.

I walked out and hugged Hugh.
"How was it? Did it hurt?" I shook my head no. "Enoch's resting at Jake's." I smile spread onto his face, "Miss Peregrine thought the age reset was going to take longer, do you want to take a stroll?" A smile played on his lips. We linked arms and walked to the transportation center.
"Hey kids, aren't you supposed to go to Portman's?" Sharron asked. Hugh put his hands over my ears and whispered something I couldn't hear. I heard Sharron's deep laugh and he smiled.
"Ok, I'll cover for you."
Hugh pulled his hands away and Sharron pulled back an old brass lever. 5 doors down, I light went on.
"Go through that one, have fun kids."
"Is it true your a vegan?" Hugh asked. What's a vegan.
"Go before I change my mind." Sharron said coldly. I giggled, Hugh grabbed my hand and led me through the door. I laughed as butterflies flew around my stomach. I opened a familiar door with a brass door knob. I stepped into a warm bakery. There were flat black squares playing projections on the wall. Every man woman and kid had a smaller version on in their hands, some had wires connected to their ears.
"This, is the present."
I saw a woman at the counter with a large pregnant belly lean over to the workers
"An bhfuil aon donuts seacláide agat?"
The woman was Irish! Soon I noticed everyone was Irish. Words I haven't heard for so long flew around. A man behind the counter leaned over to Hugh and handed him a honey bun and a round circle with a hole in the middle.
"Go raibh maith agat." Thank you, Hugh said. I blushed and smiled at him. The man winked. We left the store without paying.
"Come on, I have somewhere I want to take you."

On the way, Hugh explained that the circle I was eating was called a donut, the same kind of food the girls were talking about back in the acre. It had strawberry frosting, it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Hugh brought me to a park. There were dirt paths filled with people walking their dogs. There were beautiful patches of lavender. Hugh took my hand and led me towards a large tree.
"Do you know where we are?"
I shook my head.
"Take away the paths and the people, what do you see?"

Then I saw it.

It was the field where we met. I smiled and threw my arms around his neck. I felt the sun shine on my face and closed my eyes at the warm memory.
"What's your name?"
"Fiona. Fiona Frauenfeld."
The boy smiled.
"Hugh Apiston at your service."
"Fee, it was here where I met you. It was here where I fell in love." All of the background motions faded away.
"Ready?"
I nodded.
"We can always leave and get jobs and live in the real world."
"And everyday since then, I've made it my life goal to love and protect you."
Hugh slammed his hand into the table.
"She is not loopy!"
"I want to love you the same way you've always loved me."
"I love him and he's sick. Let him stay here, please."
I was smiling now and my eyes started to tear up.
"And now," Hugh's voice cracked, "I want to promise you that, forever."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Forever?"
"Forever."
We were both crying now.
"Fiona Merida Frauenfeld, will you marry me?"
I shrieked and threw my arms around him. Hugh had tears running down his face and he was laughing. He kissed me and put a ring on my finger. People around us clapped.
"I love you."
"I love you too."

Fiona and I were giddy with joy when we came back to Jake's house. With every step she left behind daisies.
"Miss Peregrine has a surprise for us!" Claire giggled.
I held Fiona's hand. "We need to talk to her anyways, where is she?"
"We have to go to the acre, come on!" Claire's back mouth was trying to speak but she shushed it.
"Is that new?" I asked.
She nodded, "sometimes he says what he's feeling, I don't know, it's very strange." Claire said in a matter-of-fact tone. Fiona wrapped her finger around one of Claire's golden ringlets. Claire giggled and pulled at her arm.
"Come onnnn!"

Back at the acre, Miss Peregrine looked at her watch.
"Miss Fraunfeld," We froze, did she know about Ireland? Instead she smiled and hugged her.
"Are you feeling ok? I know Hugh and Bronwyn were very nauseous. It was true, Bronwyn and I spent days throwing up together, it definitely made us closer in a way. Fiona shrugged. I put my hand to her forehead.
"She doesn't feel warm, but we do need to talk to you." Fiona smiled and giggled.
"Alright, we'll walk when we get home."
"Where is home?"
A smile played on Miss Peregrine's lips.
"That's the surprise."
"Children, as you know, we had a wonderful house."
"Don't remind me." Olive said glumly.
"Come with me." She stepped over the threshold of the panaloopticon door and into the dark. We followed her. Soon we were in a cave we knew all too well. I heard Horace gasp.
"No way!" Jake said. We all ran to the end of the tunnel and saw it in all of its glory.

Our house.
