Hugh's POV
Fiona and I strode into the foyer. I didn't know how much I loved it here until it was gone. Tears fought my eyes, why do I cry so much?
"Thank the birds, all my hearts are still here!" Enoch said joyfully.
"Enoch being happy creeps me out." Emma murmured. I nodded with wide eyes.
"Miss Frauenfeld, Mr Apiston." Miss Peregrine smiled. He gestured towards her study. We followed her and closed the large doors behind us.
"Now, you said there was something you wanted to talk to me about. Does it have anything to do with the ring on her finger?" She motioned to Fiona. She giggled and nodded nervously.
"How did you know?" I asked.
"Millard is quite the gossip."
"I'm going to propose." I was pacing Millard, Horace and I'd bedroom. Horace was bird knows where, not that it mattered, Millard was the only person I wanted to tell, besides Melina who is dead.
"Are you serious? Congratulations!" Millard threw his arms around me.
"I need a ring..." I was hoping Millard would understand my tone, luckily for me he did.
"Are we thinking diamond or something else?"
"Diamond, biggest you can find."
"Alright but I know Fiona, she won't care if it's a pebble or a boulder."
I shrugged.
"Where is she now?"
"Downstairs getting ready for her reset."
"Big day, are you sure you don't want to wait?"
"I don't think I can."
Millard laughed.
"Oh come on! I know you want this with Lily!"
"Yes but I'm 3 years her junior."
I shrugged, "Mill, you're really 80 something."
"94."
"Right, so why be afraid?"
"Enough about me, I have some rings to snatch you salty old dog."
                              "Oh come on!"
Miss Peregrine laughed, "I caught him taking the rings."
I groaned.
"I'm happy for you two." I felt a new emotion, surprise.
"There's a house in this loop down the street. It's a cottage by the water, I purchased it a few hours ago."
"Thank you." Fiona whispered. Miss Peregrine wiped a tear from her eye.
"We can go over at fix it up tomorrow."
"Miss P,"
"But I want you to come for dinners and celebrations and trips." She said. We smiled and nodded.
                              4 Weeks Later
                              Fiona's POV
I had a white lace dress on, Emma and I finally went shopping like I promised. I felt odd getting married, not because of Hugh, but because I only looked 17. I'm decades old, but I still felt so young. Which is interesting because up until now, I felt old.
"Are you alright?" Emma asked me. I must have looked as forlorn as I felt. I nodded and smiled.
"You don't have to do this, you can wait like Jake and I." Noor said. Emma rolled her eyes. I shook my head. Emma smiled, "you're in love, Fee."
"Don't make me kick your ass down the isle." Noor joked. I didn't know her too well but Hugh and her seemed to be fast friends, I could tell Emma wasn't a huge fan of her after being long in love with Jake, who is quite the floosy thinking about it.
There was a hurried knock on Miss Peregrine's office door (Noor liked to call it the bridal suite, she said that's what they called it in the present.) "Hurry up!" Millard whined, "Hugh's practically dying." I smiled and rolled my eyes.
"Beauty takes time!" Noor called out.
"Too long for tea?" The both said in unison. They were both laughing at their little inside joke, Emma and I still didn't understand it. Claire and Olive were running around trying to get everything just right.
"Shoo shoo!" Bronwyn hurried Millard away from the door and wedged herself in through the tiny crack Noor allotted.
"Oh my bird, you look beautiful." Bronwyn teared up and hugged my tightly. Horace came in now, "Oh my bird, Fee!" He hugged me and kissed my cheek. Horace was my 'maid of honor' and Noor called it. All the girls were wearing yellow sundresses, I had a yellow bow around my dress. Bronwyn opted for what Noor called 'a jump suit' it was like a dress but with pants. Noor and Jake were teaching me more and more about the present everyday. All the men were wearing grey sport coat jackets with honey yellow ties.
"We need to leave soon! We're never going to make it!"
"But Hugh's still here!"
"No, he just left."
"Millard! Put some clothes on!" Emma cried. I started to laugh and soon everyone was.
                              Hugh's POV
Almost everyone in the acre was here. Millard, my best man (thanks Noor) wasn't even here yet, I guess I spoke too soon.
"Here! I'm here!" Millard ran to me.
"Is everything set?"
"White chairs from Miss Blackbird and food by Sharron."
I nodded. Fiona and I didn't plan to go all out, we were just going to keep it small, only Miss Peregrine's clan. But then we invited Simren, then the brothers, then soon everyone wanted a plus one, and now here we are with over 200 guests. The thought of everyone in the field where Fiona and I met is unsettling, but I know that this is really where our story began, so shouldn't the next chapter start here, too? One of the peculiars from Miss Waxwings' loop started the music, which was coming out of his ears, and everyone took their seats. Soon I saw Emma, then Noor, who was followed Brownyn, who had Claire and Olive throwing petals on the floor as they walked. Jake, Enoch, and Millard were standing next to me. I wished Melina was up here standing with me, too. But it was too good of a day to be sad. The sun was shining and everyone around just seemed to be happy, for a good reason. Then I saw her. She had on a floor length white lace gown with a yellow chiffon bow around her waist. Her hair was half pulled back with little strands framing her face. She looked beautiful. Miss Peregrine and Horace linked arms with her as she walked down the isle. Sharron was at the head of our makeshift altar wearing a yellow cloak, I still have no idea who managed to pull that one off. Fiona finally reached me and I held her hand. She smiled at me and bit the corner of her lip.
"Here we are today to join these two peculiar young loves in marriage, which I have to say, I've never done before." Everyone laughed. I looked into Fiona's dark brown eyes, there wasn't anything I'd ever want to look at again.
"Now, who has the rings?"
I heard Addison grumble something about hating his suit as he handed Sharron the pillow with our two rings.
"I now pronounce you Husband and Wife."
"Kiss!" Yelled Claire.
And we did.
