Fiona's POV
"Hey Fiona, wanna go for a walk?"
It was Victor, we've been living in the loop together for awhile now and we both seem to like the quiet. I nodded and smiled, sure Hugh was my... Hugh, but Victor is my friend, he never asked me to talk, which was fine because despite liking the quiet, he talked enough for both of us.
I nodded sure and put my book on the grass, I was half watching Hugh play soccer with Millard and Horace. I saw Emma in the window upstairs, staring at all of us with her pained expression. Abe left yesterday, it was sad and we all cried, even Miss Peregrine.
"Hey Hugh!" Victor cupped his hands and shouted, "I'm gonna go snog your girlfriend!" I scowled and hit his arm.
"Haha! You arse!"
I smiled at Victor and Hugh, who were now just goofing off.
"She's not my girlfriend!" Hugh shouted, but I knew better than that, we both did. He smiled and winked at me before we headed off.

"....spaghetti......never listens...... Abe, Abe, Abe,...... Emma knows I'd never leave her!" Victor shouted, we were in the hilly fields over looking the house. Victor was going on and on about his usual daily rant about how Emma should go out with him, not Abe despite being 2 years her junior.
"I'd give her all my attention, all my affections." I arched my brow at him, he sighed and smiled "oh don't be silly of course we'd still have our walks, and I'll always play tea party with Wyn, you know what I mean." We were laying in the warm grass, arms propping up our bodies, but suddenly Victor let out an exasperated sigh.
"I just wish she noticed me."
I flopped down on the grass next to him, staring at the clouds.
"That one looks like a rhinoceros." He said pointing to a cloud, that did in fact look like the animal from Miss Peregrines book.
I pointed to one that looked like a crescent moon, Victor saw it and laughed.
"Night and day, isn't that something?"
I smiled and let my body fall asleep next to Victor in the grass, fully content.

I woke up to hear choking, it was Victor, only he was no longer next to me. He was floating 4 feet in the air. Hollowgast.
I threw seeds into the ground and commanded vines to grow, the hollow dropped Victor and he was on his knees trying to catch his breath.
"Help!" He yelled, "Help us!" He was panting still, but I could see Miss Peregrine take bird form and command the kids in the house, but everyone just stayed and watched in horror.
The hollow broke my vines and grabbed me, I squeaked and cried, trying to pull away. It's breath smelled like rotten garbage, but I realized it was probably the corpses of the last kid he took. Suddenly I felt a wet tongue on my face, I cried out but it was barely audible. Then a boulder hit the invisible creature and knocked him on the ground. It dropped me and I turned and ran to Victor. Miss Peregrine was almost to us, but it grabbed Victor. I tried to command my vines but the hollow grabbed me with its other arm. I heard Victor screaming. Victor Bruntley, who loved the quiet, spent his last moments alive screaming for help.
By the time Miss Peregrine hit the bloody thing with her crossbow, Victor was dead, his eyes were missing.
I fell to my knees and let out a sob.
"Fiona," Miss Peregrine said, holding back tears, "go back to the house, get Bronwyn, Emma, and Enoch."
I trembled and sobbed.
"Now!" She yelled. I picked myself up and ran.
That was the last time I saw her wear anything but black.
