Do to a request, I'm doing a modern Highschool AU in America 💓

Third Person POV

Fiona was a cheerleader, Hugh was a football player, it's about as classic as that. Every day the two juniors would wait by each other's lockers to kiss and whisper sweet nothings. (It would be annoying if they weren't so cute). Then they'd walk to their practices together hand in hand giggling about the day.
"Horace! Hurry! We're going to be late!"
"Sorry!"
"Making out with that little emo boy huh?" Horace scowled, "for your information, we haven't kissed yet."
Hugh made kissy noises.
Emma jogged past us.
"I heard she's in a mood, I wouldn't be late if I were you!" She called back, jogging backwards.
"Better get going then." I pulled Horace's arm and blew a kiss towards Hugh.

Practice was a killer. Literally, one of the base girls, Bronwyn was her name I think, fainted. I didn't really know her; but I know her older brother, Victor. Coach Peregrine didn't even care either! She was often aloof, but no where near as cruel as her brother Caul. Her other brother though, Mr. Bentham, is my favorite teacher, he's the only reason I like molecular theory.
"Fee, is Wyn ok? H said he saw her fall?" Ah Victor, one of my best friends besides Horace, one who used way too many nicknames.
"I think she was just dehydrated. I can go with you if you want to see if she's ok?"
"No it's alright, I called Phil."
I winced.
"I know, but if anything happens I'll pop over to lover boys." I rolled my eyes. He was right though, Hugh's mom is the best. His dad is too, he can make you laugh like no other. My mom liked Hugh enough, not that she was ever home. Ever since my dad died she's been working overtime. I work 2 jobs too but it's hard to keep up with the bills. I refuse to get rid of my lab Marley, though.
"Hey Fee," Hugh kissed my cheek.
"Eww! You're all sweaty!" I giggled.
"Friday, afterparty at my grandpas house." Announced Jake. He had the eye of Emma, another girl on my cheer team and Noor, the new girl.
"Are you sure?" Hugh asked, Jake took the loss of his grandfather really hard earlier this year.
Jake shrugged, "My parents are selling it, it deserves on last good memory.
"Bring Marley." He smiled.
"Oh, thanks!"
"No problem, I love that dog."

Friday night came pretty quickly. Marley waited under the bleachers as usual and the game finished with Victor assisting Hugh to a winning touchdown. The two were ecstatic. I was wearing my blue and white cheer uniform. The top wasn't exactly halter but it pushed Fiona's boobs up enough to be barley visible but it was definitely tight enough to see that she wasn't a complete pencil. The uniform left a midriff that made her slightly insecure, but Hugh always told her she was gorgeous. The skirt barley reached her finger tips but she didn't mind, she knew she had nice legs.

Emma was lead, which isn't surprising. She's gorgeous, smart, funny, nice, she's the complete package—impossible not to like.
After the game, Fiona grabbed Marley from under the bleachers and saw two young girls petting him. The ran away giggling when they saw me.
"Hey Marley boy, ready to go to a party?" The 4 year old lab wagged his yellow tail excitedly. Fiona got him a week after her dad died from the pound.
"Baby, ready to go?" She asked as she clipped on Marley's red leather leash onto his matching collar. Marley jumped on Hugh.
"Marley, down." Fiona said sternly, but he rarely ever listened.
"Who wants to go for a car ride?" Hugh said in a goofy dog voice. Marley was now jumping around crazily.
"You said the 'c-word!'" Hugh laughed.
"Come on, let's go."

Fiona's first thought entering the party was 'What fucking planet am I on?'
Jake's parents were out for the weekend, which was good because they probably wouldn't approve of the keg stand in their deceased father in law's living room that was going on. Hugh and Fiona were sloppy drunk. Victor was our sober driver, and having the least fun.
"Come on I'm taking you two home."
"WHOOOOOOOOO!" Fiona whooped. Hugh laughed. Horace was flirting with Enoch in the corner.
"So, what's your home like life?" Horace asked sloshing his drink around.
"Two younger sisters, picture perfect parents, nothing interesting."
"Nothing?"
Enoch looked deep in thought, "not that I know of." He said un scrunching his brow.
Horace laughed drunkenly.
"What do you know?"
Enoch bit his lip and smiled, "that I want to kiss you."
Horace leaned in and smiled, Enoch was over 6 inches taller.
"Why don't you do it?"
"Because I want our first kiss to be when you're sober."
Horace seemed satisfied with that answer and just leaned on him instead.
Jake and Emma were upstairs entertaining each-other and Noor was talking to the school gossip, Millard.
"And I think Bronwyn joined the cheer team just so she didn't have to buy tickets anymore. If you ask me, she'd be better at football." Noor nodded hanging on his every word. Millard wrote the school paper last year, but got fired for exposing people's secrets. Meanwhile, Marley was having the time of his life. Hugh had his arm slung over Fiona. All of the sudden, Marley started to bark.
"Marley?" Fiona suddenly sobered enough to notice her dog was in distress. She saw one of the dicks from the football team flicking drinks at him. Fiona broke from Hugh and was about to punch him when she heard two small voices speak synchronously.
"Leave him be!" It was the two young girls from the park.
"Claire! Olive! What are you doing here? It's 1 a.m.!" Enoch yelled at his two young sisters.
"Rodger isn't home. He went out drinking again." Claire ran to Enoch crying, "I don't wanna go home with him mad again!"
"Who's Rodger?" Horace asked.
"Foster dad, our parents died two years ago; car accident." The little brunette girl clung to Enoch's leg.
"Olive, it'll be ok, we'll sleep under the stars tonight ok? Like camping."
"As if!" Horace turned around to see Noor.
"I'm a foster kid, too. My folks suck so I have a storage locker where I crash. It's not the best but it's where I stay most of the time. I'm going there tonight, bring your sisters." Enoch nodded in gratitude.
Horace was still stung by his lie from earlier, but understood. Claire was clinging onto Marley.
"You're being mean!" She cried. The jock that everyone knew as George laughed.
"Isn't it a little past your bed time?"
"Stop fucking with my dog!" Fiona shouted.
George, who often resembled a circus clown, couldn't even get another word in before Hugh punched him. Marley grabbed Claire by the back of the shirt and dragged her back from the commotion.
Suddenly there was a burning smell, everyone stopped trying to ignore the commotion and screamed.
"Holy shit!"
"Fire!"
"Run for your lives!"
Jake ran down the stairs with Emma not to far behind, her top was on inside out. Jake realized that lighting a cinnamon roll scented candle was not only lame, but really stupid to do around a bunch of drunk teenagers. The candle tipped over and landed into someone's spilled drink, then it caught the curtains. Everyone was filing out. Emma grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and Fiona frantically, in her drunken state, tried to throw water at the flame, which only got bigger. Fiona then had an "oh shit" moment and realized she'd been throwing vodka. Despite Emma's best efforts, the fire swept through the house.
"We need to go, now!" Hugh yelled. Suddenly everyone was stone cold sober and grabbing whatever belongings the could. Claire and Olive were riding Marley like a horse, which usually Fiona doesn't approve of, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

All 12 kids and the dog sat on the bridge near the house while the fire department tried to salvage what they could. Bronwyn and Victor came back just as the fire department arrived, Jake sent the two for ice.
"My parents are going to fucking kill me."
"Yeah, they are." Emma, who usually had a very positive disposition, didn't even try to argue.
Noor started laughing, and soon they all were. Noor jumped off the 10 foot bridge into the water below. She howled like a wolf. Soon everyone, even the kids, were in the water. Marley decided just to watch.
"My mom used to say something about people like us."
"And what's that?"
"We're 'a peculiar bunch.'" Noor laughed.
"A peculiar bunch."
