CAITLIN PAIGE

I stared at the stars in the sky as I lean towards the railing. Each are shining so bright, twinkling at me. I've always enjoyed looking up the night sky since I was a child, watching the stars, feeling the cold breeze blow against me. They don't make me feel lonely even if I'm alone. I always loved the silence, the calm, this peaceful moment.

I once believed that some of those stars were our brave heroes who saved our world, that they were still watching over us. That's what my mother told me when she was telling me bedtime stories before.

I don't believe that now, but I still feel accompanied while looking at each of them twinkle in the dark sky.

I drew in a deep breath.

Today, for the first time, we lost in the tournament. That we're incompetent? That we're not ready and prepared for our roles yet?

I don't even want to think about it.

Corey, Fatima, Shannon, and the instructors kept telling me that it's fine. Even Scott when he visited me earlier to check on me.

But is it?

I snapped out of my thoughts when a door opened. A very sleepy looking guy went out, wearing a comfortable white shirt paired with sweatpants. I watched him walk towards the railing. Ni hindi ito lumingon sa direksyon ko.

"Can't sleep either?" I asked Blade.

He looked over the low wall between us to meet my gaze. It took him a few seconds before he answered, "Yeah."

Halos sabay kaming tumingala sa langit. He looks so calm and tamed right now. Sleepy Blade is much better than his usual self. I smirked at the thought.

"Are you totally okay now?" he muttered, breaking the silence. His voice was low, and suprisingly gentle.

Honestly, my nightmares are bothering me. "I'm not," I admitted. I chuckled softly. "Kidding."
