Not Without You - A Stucky Fanfic

Chapter Twenty Six

Russia. The last country the six avengers had to go to take down known HYDRA bases.

They've already been there for a eight days, but they haven't gotten much. They haven't located the last HYDRA base blueprints that they had to take down in Russia, but the other four had no sign of activity or any agents. They were hoping this one would, if they could locate the blue prints.

The blue prints were key to make a plan on how to get in, take down agents and take intel, then get out.

"Tony, how is the blue print search coming?"

"I'm getting closer, I just need more time," Tony confirms, but he knows he doesn't have much time.

They all want to go home, see their loved ones and just a break from traveling and fighting for a while.

"Guys I got it! I have the blue prints!" Tony yells excitedly, swiping up to project the blueprints in front of everyone to see to form a plan.

They all began looking at them, all the avengers forming different ideas until, eventually they came up with one altogether.

Steve begins to speak in his leadership tone, "alright, Tony and Wanda, take the top floor since you guys can fly. Clint and Scott take the basement while Nat and I take the middle floor. Remember to be careful, collect any intel and files or anything else valuable but watch each other's backs. As we know, HYDRA is sneaky and won't hesitate to shoot. Let's do this."

"Okay let's move," Tony says, all the avengers moving out and heading to the base.

"Alright, move in!"

Tony and Wanda flew up and started to fly towards the base while the other four hustled along the grass to the most available doors. Steve used his shield and broke right through, the others trailing inside.

Steve was in front holding up his shield, the others covering his six and clearing doors until the made it to the door that led to the basement where Clint and Scott broke off to clear.

Meanwhile, Tony and Wanda busted through the windows to find 4 agents who was shocked by the breakage of the two windows.

Tony stopped moving and simply said, "sorry to interrupt your party but anyone care to join us before we use the hard way? No one? Okay."

Tony fires a blast at one of the agents, making them shoot. Wanda used her red magic to pick up a guy and throw him against another one stepping on the floor in the process. Tony continued to shoot lasers and blasts while Wanda used her magic until the very last agent was down. They tied them up and Wanda flew them out the window in front of the building while both Avengers got ready to descend down the stairs until there was an explosion.

It came from the first floor.

Steve and Nat were clearing rooms, finding only a few HYDRA agents until an explosion happened. It shot them both in different directions, Nat hitting the floor and Steve hitting a wall. Nat struggled to get up, but Steve tried to get up but failed until someone hovered over him amongst the smoke and stabbed him with something pointy. It made everything dark.

"Steve! Where are you? Are you okay?" Natasha yells over all the smoke, coughing some of it up in the process. She heard footsteps from multiple directions but no response from Steve.

"Steve?" She tries again.

"Nat? Are you okay? What happened to Steve?" Clint yelled, following her voice with Scott right behind her.

"There was an explosion, Steve and I got separated and now he won't answer me," she began, seeing Tony and Wanda running up to them.

"Friday, can you scan for movement through this smoke?" Tony says through his mask.

"Yes Sir, but I'm afraid there is no sign of Captain Rogers."

"That means they were waiting for us, weren't they?" Scott said to the group.

"Yes, we got ambushed."

Natasha shook her head before falling against Clint and his arms, not entirely happy with letting her comrade get taken. This wasn't supposed to happen.

"We need to get him back, fast. Bucky isn't going to like this," Tony confessed to them all.

"You're right, we also need to get out of here since we cleared all the floors. I don't want to be taken by HYDRA as well," Clint looked around at them and then the mess, all of them agreeing and helping Nat up to leave the base back to where they were staying.

They got back to their place, all of them exhausted and too tired to do anything. They had just lost their captain, and all they wanted to do was sleep, which is what they did. No use in looking for him when their brains are fried from the mission they had.

All of them got out of their suits and into more comfortable clothes and headed to the beds to sleep. All of them fell straight asleep, preparing for a day full of finding their captain again.

Days passed and the five avengers haven't found anything on Steve's whereabouts. They don't know where he went and there is no trace on to where he went.

It's been five days and they finally decided to call Bucky about the situation they had at hand since they had no leads.

Bucky was getting ready for a run, he was standing outside a few feet from the tower when his phone began to vibrate. He pulled it out of his pocket, the screen reading Nat's name. Bucky being confused why it wasn't Steve, he answered.

"Hello, Natasha, what's up?" He questions her.

"So a few days ago, we kind of fell in a pickle..." she begins telling Bucky.

"What's wrong?"

"Steve.. Steve kind of got taken after an explosion in the base and we haven't been able to find him," she confesses.

Bucky just stood still, phone still in hand, "wha-what?"

"Steve got taken by HYDRA, Bucky."

"No no no! I need to help find Ste-" Bucky started but never finished. He dropped to the concrete sidewalk after he felt a pinch in his back, everything becoming dark around him.

He wasn't on alert because his mind was focused on Steve, and now he's in trouble too.

"Bucky? Bucky what's up?" Natasha spoke over the phone.

"Bucky? Bucky!" After no response, Nat hung up the phone.

"Nat what happened?" The group asks all at once.

She turned and stared at her friends, telling them, "Something happened to Bucky as well."
