Chapter 27

(F/N) POV)

After another long day of training, similar to the last one, it was almost time for the test of courage which had been announced earlier in the day; the only obstacle left was making dinner. I was extra tired today because I was training with Tiger and Midoriya, which did not help my achy bones at all.

Sero slouched on my shoulder as I cut vegetables with Bakugo. I sighed, "Go get some sleep, I'll wake you up before dinner." Sero shook his head, "Sorry, but I have to pass on that offer. Mr. Aizawa said that if he catches anyone from the remedial classes sleeping that whoever it is would have to stay for an extra hour at lessons. I'll just tough it out until then."

Bakugo laughed, "That's your fault for falling asleep during the exams, idiot." Sero stood upright, "Dammit, Bakugo! I did my best!"

Uraraka laughed as she picked up the chopped vegetables, "Hey, at least you didn't almost die. Thirteen nearly pulled me into a black hole!"

I grabbed another carrot and started cutting it, "That reminds me, why did you go flying?"

Uraraka turned around, her face bright red, "No reason." Sero and I laughed as I finished chopping up the carrot, "Riiiight."

(Time Skip)

Pixie-Bob smiled, "Perfect! We've filled our bellies and cleaned the dishes. It's time for..." "A totally awesome test of courage!" Mina cut her off.

Sero, Kirishima, and Denki chimed in, "We're gonna win!" as Sato danced behind them. Mr. Aizawa quickly ruined the mood for the five of them, "Not so fast. It pains me to say it, but the remedial class will be having lessons with me tonight instead."

Mina shrieked, "YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!"

Mr. Aizawa wrapped up the five of them with his scarf, "Sorry. Your training during the day didn't impress me, so I'll be using this time, too."

Denki and Sero shouted as they got dragged away, "Oh, give me a break!" Sato and Kirishima joined in on the complaining, "I just wanna prove my courage!" 

After Mr. Aizawa took them to their lessons, Pixie-Bob explained what was going to happen, and how one class could win. Then, Pixie-Bob shouted, "Okay! Everyone draw to see who your partner will be!"

The pairs were selected by drawing;

1. Tokoyami and Shoji
2. Bakugo and Todoroki
3. Jirou and Hagakure
4. Momo and Aoyama
5. Tsu and Uraraka
6. Ojiro and Mineta
7. Iida and Koda
8. Midoriya and me

I patted Midoriya on the back, "Looks like we're partners, huh?"

He nodded, "Yeah! Let's do our best!"

Our conversation was cut short by Bakugo's screaming. Midoriya sighed, "I think he's trying to get people to trade partners with him." I laughed, "Yeah, he really hates Todoroki, doesn't he? And did he just call Ojiro Tail?"

Midoriya and I muffled our laughter over Bakugo's nickname for Ojiro, and soon enough the test of courage started. 

Suddenly, the air started to smell horribly. Midoriya nudged my arm, "You see that?"

He pointed upward, toward the sky.

I saw it, all right.

Mandalay took the words right out of my mouth, "Black smoke...?"

Iida walked over to us, "Has something been set abalze?" Ojiro came over to us, too. "Maybe a fire on the mountain?" I shook my head, "Nah. Maybe Bakugo just got so scared he exploded a tree?" Even as I spoke those words, I knew that wasn't the case. Everyone here knew that wasn't the case. Something wasn't right, and a knot grew in my stomach, fearing the worst.
