(F/N) POV)
"Well," Oxygenate sighed, "for starters, what is air made of?"
I had decided that I should go to Oxygenate, one of Endeavor's sidekicks, for help controlling the element of air. I wasn't expecting a pop quiz!
"Uhhhhh, oxygen?" I tilted my head in confusion. Oxygenate sighed again, "And what else?"
I thought for a minute, "Ummmm, air?"
Oxygenate laughed as he shook his head, "No, not exactly. Air is approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen. There's also a few other periodic elements mixed in there, like carbon dioxide, neon, and hydrogen. Although, we don't have the exact percentage of those just yet."
I nodded, "Okay, but what's that got to do with controlling the air?"
"If you don't know what you're controlling, how can you control it?" Oxygenate asked.
I snapped my fingers, "Like I've done all along! With luck."
"Your luck will run out one of these days." Oxygenate assured. "And when it does, you'll be screwed." I sighed, "I know, but my parents weren't around for long enough to teach me what to do, that's why I came to you for guidance!"
Oxygenate nodded, "Okay, what can you do with air right now?"
I thought about it for a minute, "Well, I can twist the air, make semi-solid platforms for me to step on, but I typically fall right through those, oh yeah, I can also breathe it."
"Okay, that's a good start." The sidekick looked down at me. "Is that all?"
I nodded. "Okay," he said, "I can see we have a lot of work to do."
I looked down, "Yeah, I know. But, once I have it down, I know I'll be able to become a great hero!"
Oxygenate nodded, "Perfect way to look at it. How long can you hold your breath for?" "I think around a minute." I smiled.
"Okay, can you fight and hold your breath at the same time?"
I thought about it for a minute. That's when it clicked. "Bingo! If I hold my breath, there's bound to be more air to control, right?"
Oxygenate nodded, "Yeah, but that's only a strategy to use. If you want to hold your air powers for longer, I suggest that you always hold up a sphere of air or something."
I nodded, solidifying the air in a circular shape. Oxygenate smiled, "Perfect, now see how long you can hold that for. Then, slowly work your way up to a bigger sphere."
I nodded, still keeping the ball in my hand, "Thank you, Oxygenate! That was a big help!"
Oxygenate nodded, "Any time. I knew your parents, you know. I was a huge fan of theirs, so I met them at a meet and greet when I was at UA. They were really nice people, I'm sorry you lost them."
I shook my head, "It happened almost ten years ago, but I'm glad you got to meet them. Thanks again for the help!"
With that, I walked back to the guest bedroom I occupied at Endeavor's agency.
(Time Skip)
The next morning I woke up without any nightmares, shockingly. I heard a knock on my door, and then a voice from the other side. "(F/N)." Todoroki called, "We're going on patrol in an hour, so Endeavor says that you should be ready soon."
I called back, "Okay, I'll be down for breakfast in a minute!"
I heard Todoroki's footsteps, signaling that he'd walked away. With that, I stretched my legs and got ready for the day. As quickly as I could, I put on my hero outfit, putting the belt on last as I walked out the door, shoelaces still untied. While I was on patrol, I was going to do what Oxygenate told me to do with the solid air.
