Song of the chapter: I Want What You Have by Willamette Stone

Calum's POV

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" I hear off in the distance.

Heavy footsteps and frantic movements are what I can make out of the ruckus. I pull the blanket over my pre-conscious self and try to act asleep.

A few seconds of silence creeps into the room and I peep out of my cover like Curious George.

All of a sudden, there is a slam and a huge bang. The door hits the wall with such impact that it leaves its mark, awakening the other boys who wear confused faces.

Standing the doorway is my best friend in the whole wide world, Diana.

She leaps across the room and dodges the mess of clothes which consume the floor and lands on me completely in a sloppy attempt of a hug.

"Happy Birthday Cal!" She shrieks into the room and in particular, my ears.

"Careful there, or else I won't be able to hear for the rest of the day." I chuckle lightly and try to hide my pleased smile.

"Sorry," She pulls herself away from me and sits at the foot of my bed,"So how does it feel to be 15?"

"I don't know because I haven't tried much 15 year old stuff except for wake up, thanks to you." I reply, honestly.

"Oh right, hahaha." She lets out an awkward laugh because she just figured out how silly the question was.

"Guys," A voice interjects and it is Luke with bed hair and a groggy voice, "We were sleeping very peacefully until we were interrupted so do you mind if we regain some lost minutes?" Ashton sleepily nods in agreement.

"Actually, we have a really busy day ahead." Diana responds sternly.

"Yes we do." Ashton declares and in an instant, he has gone from unbearable to presentable. How?!

"So get yourselves ready and the girls and I will meet you all in the kitchen." Diana declares and exits the room just as swiftly as she entered.

I force myself up from my comforting sauna of a bed, "Come on, Lucas." I throw a pillow on his haystack of hair and make my way down to the meetup.

Walking through the hallway, I am reminded of where I could have been on this day. I could have been eating Pancakes that my mother had prepared prior to my awakening. I could have listened to old records with my old man, watching the sun rise onto the horizon. I could have spent some more time with my beloved sister whom I hardly see anymore.

Constant thoughts of my family and home burden me as I sink down to the floor and bury my head in my chest. A soft hand lands upon my shoulder and I look up as small droplets of tears begin to trickle down my cheeks.

"Cal? You of all people shouldn't be sad today. It's your birthday!"

"I'm not sad," I brush away my tears as I do with the topic with my weary hands, "I just had some sleep in my eyes." I try my best to shake it off but as I look into Bryar's deep blue eyes, I can tell that she isn't taking it.

"What's up?" She says softly.

"I- I just wish that my family was here with me." I sheepishly admit. How pathetic. I'm 15 now. I shouldn't be acting like a little boy anymore. Only babies cry about missing their mum.

"Hey, it's totally relatable," She tell me as her arm encircles around my frail-like figure that could so with some serious toning. Please puberty do me well, "I miss my mum so much because she is literally my best friend," Bryar explains to me, "Everyone here is feeling the same but that's why we have each other. Incredibly cheesy but you have all of us here with you in this moment."
