Song of the chapter: Chocolate by The 1975
"Dee" I am shaken softly, awakening me. "Dee, come on or else we'll be late." Niall's frustrated voice rings through my mind. My eyes are hit with instant brightness. The curtains are open and the sun is shining its worst on me. Dang flabbit.
“I've been trying to wake you up for the past 10 minutes." He sighs. "You are quite the sleeper." He nudges me. It's funny because I never get a full night of sleep but last night seemed to be an exception.
I rub my eyes and adjust them to the brightness. I look for Calum but he must be showering or somewhere else. I feel like I should find him but then last night's memories flood back and I decide against it. Out of all the 4 years I've known Calum, he has always kept his cool and never gotten so furious. Looks like his gold stars are dimming.
"What time is it?" I finally ask Niall. He is sitting at the end of my bed where my feet are unable to reach. Calum's harsh words from last night must be in the back of his mind. He keeps his distance and I am somewhat sad about that, especially after the way he comforted me.
"It is 7 o'clock and school starts at 8am." He informs me. Sighing, I rise from my bed and gather a grey blouse and grey skirt that will be my uniform for the next few weeks. Niall guides me to the bathroom to recep my memory. I thank him and he leaves me to bathe.
The uniform isn't as bad as I thought it would be, although the colour is quite dull. I mean, school uniforms are basically invented as the worst outfit of clothing. I haven't looked in the mirror for at least 3 months and it's a new kind of experience. It doesn't take me long to pick out all my flaws. My unattractive pale skin, my thin calf muscles, my non-existent bust/butt areas. I have to tear my gaze away to stop myself from continuing.
I check the time, 7:30am. How did I take half an hour in the shower?! I quickly fish tail my hair, slip on my sandals and burst out of the bathroom, into Calum.
"Shit, I could've hit you." I am both surprised and scared right now. His sudden outrage had given me some form of paranoia and I wasn't ready to defend myself this early in the day.
"It's okay. I probably would've deserved it anyway after what happened last night." Calum looks down at the ground.
"Yeah, you got that right." And with that, I walk away. I can't be bothered putting up with his shit right now despite his calls for me but I ignore. I feel powerful and in control. A feeling I have been on the opposite end of for too long.
I walk into the kitchen to find 4 boys, happily munching on some Cocoa Puffs.
"Good morning everyone" I happily chirp. But am I really happy?
"Morning" They all reply in their different ranges of low voices. I grab a bowl and sit down next to Luke who is very perky.
"I've never seen someone so excited about school before." I comment on his behaviour.
"You obviously haven't met Luke before then." Ashton says. We all erupt in laughter as Luke flushes with embarrassment. Calum walks in and I still haven't forgiven him so I ignore him. Niall seems to catch on so he keeps a conversation flowing within him, Calum and Luke. I give him a thankful look.
"Uh, it's just too early." Michael complains. His eyes are droopy and have red rings around them. He looks like a vampire.
"I feel your pain." I sympathize with him. We both fake cry and end up laughing at our stupid selves. A crash and thud comes from behind us. Everyone goes silent and turns around to see Ashton on the ground with the rest of the Cocoa Puffs on the ground.
