Song of the chapter: A Love Like War by All Time Low ft Vic Fuentes

{ calum }

I can't tell if I'm dreaming or if I'm just completely insane. I feel her tug my hair that brings me to the conclusion that this is real.

The way our lips mould into each other act like lost puzzle pieces finally joining together. It is everything I had imagined and more.

Her lips are the perfect moisture and it‘s giving me chills all over my body. As our lips move in sync, her hands snake around my neck, bringing us closer than ever.

I move my hands down to her hips, causing her to let out a little moan. I really don't care if we are in the middle of a hospital hallway, I‘d do this anywhere with her.

I feel her tounge slip into mouth, now making myself moan in response. The butterflies in my stomach rapidly expand as the seconds go by. My thought process is jumbled but I know one thing for certain; I am going to win this girl.

I'm really trying my hardest to imagine that I am kissing Michael but I can't seem to.

When I kiss Michael, it‘s full of hunger and lust whereas with Calum it‘s graceful and engulfing.

I feel a pang of guilt inside me as I continue to make out with my best friend but the thought is instantly pushed away, far away. I'm not even sure why I am doing this but all I know is that this is the best feeling in the world.

We continue like this for what seems like days until he pulls away, letting our foreheads rest against each others.

“Wow.“ is all I can say.

“Yeah.“ He engulfs me in a bone crushing hug. I lay my head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat race every few seconds. I can't help but wonder why he didn't stop me or why I even did what I just did.

“Um excuse me.“ A nurse interrupts ever so politely. She is about my height and has a perfect powder white complexion.

“Yes?“ I break free from Calum and turn to the nurse.

“We have Jak in a stable condition and he is allowed visitors.“ She informs.

“That's wonderful news. I‘ll pass the news onto everyone. Thank you.“ She nods and walks off graciously down the hall.

I turn to Calum who is staring down the path she left. I laugh. “Why don't you go get her number or something.“

He shakes his head. “No no no no, she's not my type.“ He insists.

“Whatever. I saw you checking her out.“ His cheeks redden at my observation, only proving me correct.

“Aw Cal.“ I hit his chest playfully and he pouts like a little kid.

“Oh come on, that didn't hurt.“ I mean, I'm a freaking midget with zero muscle strength.

“But it did!“ He drops his bottom lip and has the look of a sad puppy on his face.

“Take some concrete pills and suck it up princess.“ His jaw drops at my sass and I flick my hair like a preppy school girl.

“Yes that‘s right. I just did that.“ He chuckles lightly and chases me down the hall. I yell and scream at the top of my lungs as Calum runs after me, earning a few displeased looks from both patients and nurses.

I turn a corner where a dead end is present and I realize I am trapped.

“Damn.“ I curse into the open air.

“Give it up Miller, I've already won.“ He darts towards me and my natural reflex is to kick him in the balls.

He groans and stumbles to the ground, clutching his package in care and pain.

“Oh my god, Cal are you okay?“ I kneel down next to him, not knowing what to do in such an awkward situation.

“Yeah. Just peachy.“ I chuckle. Calum is always calm in the most stressful situations. It‘s both reassuring yet frightening. “I mean, it‘s not like I just got hit in the balls.“ He says so casually.

“I know, I'm sorry.“ I give him a weak smile and he laughs.

“Just help me up, will ya?“ I pull him up to his feet and he is unable to fully stand up. Wow, I must‘ve hit his package harder thab I anticipated.

“Let‘s head back now. I think you‘ve had enough fun for one morning.“ I remark.

“Yourself included.“ We walk back to the room, conversing about our favorite bands and the songs that make us cry. We would fight and scream until one of us said that we were crazy. We would laugh it off, realizing how good it was to have my Calum back.

"It's good to have you back, Cal." I tell him as we walk back. He looks down at me with those piercing chocolate eyes that make me melt whenever they are on me.

"It's good to be back, Dee." He wraps an arm around my small figure as we walk down the newly crowded hallway of the hospital. I finally realize that it will always be  Calum and I through thick and thin, the good and the bad. It's scary but it's also great to know that I'm not in it by myself. How did I get so lucky with him as a best friend?
