"Shut the door, Susie!" Except, I didn't wait for her to. Shouldering her out of the way, I forced the damn thing closed myself and then rested my back against the cold metal.
"How do you lock it?" I asked.
"It locks on its own." She said through gritted teeth. Clearly, I was on her last nerve.
Knowing the door was locked gave me some relief, however. I used my sleeve to wipe blood from the sides of my face. My body still adapting to the sudden change of temperature.
Inside the stone walls it was constantly cold enough to be snowing, yet just outside was seventy degrees fahrenheit. Coming into the the Ormond resort was like jumping from the summer sun into a cold river, shocking everytime.
"Is there a killer here who can shape-shift?" I needed some answers.
"Shape-shift?" She echoed.
"Yeah. You know, like transform and become exactly like you in every way, except be absolutely evil?"
She scoffed and narrowed her eyes. "Are you saying I'm not absolutely evil?? I don't know what's with you today, but you need to watch your step, Zerick."
The death-stare she gave me was more chilling than the atmosphere. I'd almost rather have still been with the imposter..
"But no, there's no shape-shifter." She told me with a snarky tone.
That wasn't the answer I wanted. What I wanted to think was that one of the other killers was having a go at me, like a hazing or something.
She began walking towards the resort, abandoning my company.
"Susie.." I wasn't sure I should be the one to point this out, but I felt like it was the right thing to do.
She stopped, but didn't turn around, just waited for me to speak.
"You're skirt's stuck in your underwear.."
Susie used her hand, not to fix the skirt, but to crack her neck, and then her knuckles.
When she finally turned around to face me, I knew I had screwed up.
Out of the front-pouch of her hoodie, she pulled a ruler that had been crafted into a shank, with some extras of course.. She had taped several strands of metal wire to the ruler, and they stuck out at the sharpened end.
I held up my hands like a suspect cornered by the police as I watched the crazy grow in her eyes.
"Rrrrahhhhhh!!!" Sounded her battle-cry.
She was too fast, and I was backed up against the tin door with nowhere to run.
At least she made my death fairly quick, taking a good chunk of flesh from my neck with one slash.
Dying that way was not pleasant, however. It wasn't painful really, due to my body releasing a surge of endorphins, but it felt like I was suffocating, or drowning. I was not a fan.
Before I lost consciousness, the last thing I heard was Susie.
She said, "I might be able to forgive you now."
It seemed like a mere blink before I woke up in the grassy meadow again. Thankfully this time, I was not alone.
Before I had the chance to panic, I spotted Frank in the distance and heard him calling my name.
I ran to his side.
"Insatiable need for suffering." He said, shaking his head while I worked to catch my breath.
