Public Speaking

"I'm tellin' you, man. It was him."
Ace and David spoke quietly in a small room at the Haddonfield survivor camp.

"Did anyone else notice?" David asked, rubbing his chin. He didn't really care what fate and befallen the entity's newest kidnap victim, just that he didn't take the blame for creating a fifth member of The Legion.

"I think Dwight recognized him. Claudette and Feng aren't stupid, either.. They knew something was up."

...................................................................................

Her eyes went from one side of the crowded room to the other, although she couldn't really see anybody. All she saw was one, giant eyeball. Watching her, judging her.

Public speaking is a challenge, especially for the soft-spoken.

"Whenever you're ready, Claudette." Jane says with a smile, placing a reassuring hand on the doe-eyed woman's shoulder.

Claudette cleared her throat as the room of tattered survivors waited patiently for a briefing on the rumoured new killer.

Claudette was good at identifying things, so she focused on that.

"Caucasian, male.." She held her forearm, briefly remembering the sting broken glass had made as it split her skin. She swallowed, narrowed her eyes.

"He was skinny, one-twenty or so.. a-and 5'5 or 5'6.." She took a deep breath, effectively calming her mind.

"He wore a Legion mask. One I've never seen.."

The crowded room was quiet no longer, as they immediately began open discussions.

"Uh- You literally just described Frank?" A voice called out from the group. Claudette opened her mouth, ready to disprove the idea but Jane took over.

"Thanks girl," Jane smiles as she shuffles up from behind Claudette. "I got this."

Jane's voice carries through the whole house, easily speaking over the noisy crew she had gathered.

"Well, Jake. If you had let her finish what she was saying.." Jane took off her stylish sunglasses and tucked them in her shirt.

"First of all, you're a bunch of fucking pricks and I hope you know, that you're here for a reason."

She continued, more upbeat and peppy now that she had gotten that out of her system.
"But anyways, this killer has no neck tattoo, it can't be Frank.. It's someone new."

Jane finished the sentence dramatically, but who doesn't like a little flare?

"That's why you called a meeting?" Meg spoke up from within the crowd. "To tell us there's a new member of The Legion?"
Sarcasm was strong in her voice, but Meg felt that her time was being wasted, and that really pissed her off. She carried on with a snide laugh, flipping a braid of red hair over her shoulder.

"Who cares? Legion is weak. Pfft. I'm outta here."

The group doesn't hide their agreement as they all begin chuckling, making jokes and exiting the building. Only a few of them sticking around.

Jane, Elodie, Claudette and Dwight. Feng was there too, just in her room upstairs, like usual.

Claudette shakes her head and asks Jane, "Why didn't you tell them he matches the description of the new survivor that went missing? He has the same heart tattoo on his arm!"

"They don't care, babe." Jane answers, grabbing Claudette by the hands.

"We, on the other hand," she looks around, acknowledging her friends, "are gonna figure out how, and why."

Elodie chimes in excitedly.

"The entity has never done something like this before, right? Maybe that means it can be reasoned with!" She glances down for a moment, in thought. "Maybe he was able to reason with it."

Dwight shifts uncomfortably, rubbing his arm. "Isn't it more likely that Frank is responsible? I mean, he's the last one that saw him, right Jane?"

"As far as I know, yeah." She responds. The friends become quiet for a moment of contemplation.

"Welp," Elodie said as she clapped her hands together, "I guess our only move is to interrogate The Legion."

"You should probably let me handle that."

The friends look up to the top of the stairs where Feng's voice had echoed down from. She decended the staircase to stand with the others.

"They like me." She said with a shrug, which prompted confused, wide-eyes from the entire group.
Feng sighed and pulled the hood of her jacket up over her head. Attached to the hood, were a pair of plush rabbit ears that flopped around with the movement. She grinned.

"We bonded over bunnies."
