Bet on Me

It was hard to breathe while falling through the dark, bottomless escape-hatch. Like when you take a big drop on a rollercoaster. The dark fog swirled around me and started taking sinister shapes.

It showed me shadows of monsters, ghosts, demons.. Frank. Each with their own unique weapon, chasing sillhouetted survivors in circles around me. The killers expressed their fury without mercy. Slashing, squishing, eating..

I cried out for the vision to end.

The fog listened. They all stopped. All the dark figures now stared at me, blankly. I tried to steady my breathing.

This isn't what Frank said would happen.

Dozens of shadowy hands shot out from where the figures stood. There was no time to react. The hands wrapped, like cuffs around my wrists, yanking my arms behind my back.

Another shadow stretched out for me. I braced for an attack but instead..
I get robbed.. my pin..

The dark, shadowy hand held the pin in front of my face, allowing me to look at the green depiction of Franks' mask that decorated the novelty item.

"Give it back!"

As I screamed, the darkness fell away revealing the tiny room where I met Ace for the first time, just before the last trial.

I was in the Haddonfield survivor camp, or at least that's what Frank had told me this place was.

Realizing I'm still restrained, I opened my mouth to scream, but my words are muted- mouth taped shut. I groaned and squint as I became more fully aware.

David was here, holding me in place and showing me the pin, my pin. He tossed it to the ground.

Ace entered the room, quickly shutting the door behind him when he saw me.

"Well hole-ee shit, he's back already?" He puts down a bottle and stepped closer. "That's a bet I would've lost.. if I weren't riggin' the whole thing!" He chuckled and slapped Davids' shoulder.

"Keep your voice down!" David hissed. "And turn the music on."

He looked down at me as Ace fumbled with an old record player.

"Welcome back." David said, as his fist collided with my cheek bone.

The punch knocked me off balance and I realized too late that my feet were also bound. I crashed to the floor.

Ace got the music going and cranked the volume. A familiar guitar riff began drowning out the thudding sounds of impact that David's fists made as they struck me. I could feel the bones in my face breaking apart with each punch.

The music was slowly piercing through the high-pitched ringing in my head.

~Alllllll our times have come~

I caught Ace's eye as David took a break from hitting me to shake the sting out of his hand.

"Well I can't help you." Ace said raising his hands defensively, a crooked smile on his face. "I've taken too many dives for people lately.. If you could just stay gone for a couple more cycles.. I'll win my fucking keys back!"

~We'll be able to fly, Don't fear the reaper, Baby I'm your man~

I felt blood wetting my face as I watched David roll his wrist around in little circles.
He straddled me on the floor. My head turned to avoid his eyes and I saw the novelty pin Frank had attached to my shirt, lying on the floor by my side.

"mMMMM!" My gargles barely audible over the music.

~Heeeeere but noww they're gone~

"Is that a Legion pin?" Picking it up, Ace studied the item. "How did you get this?" He looked at David, who was frustrated by the question.

"If you had stayed and spectated after suiciding for Jane.. What are you? Wrapped around her fin-" Ace cut him off before he could finish.

"I owed her a debt! She's a real fucking shark, man. I woke up to her pulling one of my teeth out once!"

~We can be like they are~

David grunted before answering Ace's previous question.

"It's not my pin, it's his."

Ace looked at me suspiciously.

"Did he steal it from Frank?" He asked.

~Come on baby, don't fear the reaper~

"No!" David roared, irritated. His fist struck me in the face again and my head bounced off the hard floor. I could feel my left eye immediately begin swelling.

"Frank gave him the pin after they tortured me, *punch* and stitched me back up, *punch* and tortured me some more, *punch punch* and then partied all fucking night!"

~Laaa la laa laa la~

Davids' voice was furious and so were his eyes. He latched onto my face, his hand was big enough to palm my head like a basketball. He spoke into my ear as his other hand began to squeeze my throat.

"I want you to beg me not to kill you."

~Love of two is one~

David let go of my face, and uncoiled his fingers from around my neck. He ripped off the duct tape covering my mouth in one swift tear.

Coughing and trying to breathe as much oxygen as possible, "Please.." I choked out, mostly by accident.

~Came the last night of sadness~

David smirked. I hated his cocky face, and that he had the upper hand.

"Please.. don't kill me." I pleaded, still gasping to fill my lungs, "Who.. who will bandage your boo-boos?"

Davids' face contorted, salty. Ace cackled in the background.

~Come on baby, and she had no fear~

David had reached his limit, a visible fury in his eyes. He clamped down with both hands, and with a grunt, crushed my windpipe.
