Again, I was experiencing a few moments when all I can do is look around me. First thing I spot is David, great.. my vision kept going.
Seemed like I'm in some kind of lobby? There were luggage carts, a few large sofas and armchairs around a lit fireplace, a stupid generator.. all in disarray.
The ceiling was broken in parts, letting snow fall gently inside.
Wait, it's snowing, but I feel really hot..light-headed even.
The force let go of me, I could move and.. I had to get sick.
I shuffled forward a couple feet to lean into a wall, bent at the waist and let it go.
It was quite horrible, really. The vomit was acidic and hot, David kept shushing me.
"Quiet! Keep it down! Come on, really? Ugh!"
I watched through teary eyes as he gave up quieting me to cross the room and begin his work on the generator.
The sickness finally all purged, I spit out anything left in my mouth. Standing up, my head was still light but my temperature felt normal again. I joined David at the generator.
He shot a glance at me. "All done?" He asked.
"I don't know what I'm doing." I confessed before kneeling down next to the generator.
"Yeah, no kidding." He rolled his eyes. "Just try to fix those hoses." He nodded in a general direction, his hands busy unknotting wires.
I could see the hoses he was talking about. One had a hole gouged out of the side and another hung completely detached from.. whatever it was meant to attach to.
Waves of panic begin to crash over me.
I didn't have experience repairing stuff like this. I didn't really even know where to start.I grabbed the hanging hose and looked around, thinking maybe I could at least find where it connects.
My heart beat faster as I dragged the hose around the machine, hoping to accomplish at least this.
I saw David look around suspiciously before standing. He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me up to face the other side of the lodge.
My pulse was deafening my thoughts, I tried to pull my arm back but he didn't let go.
Through one of the broken walls, I caught the glimmer of sharp steel being brandished by a masked figure as they approached the building from outside.
I turned to run, but David still had my arm in his grasp.
"Get off!" I tried to pull away but he threw me to the floor.
"You're learning the hard way today." He called out as he ran towards the back.
Still on the floor, scrambling to get on my feet I looked ahead to see the masked figure had begun sprinting towards me from across the room.
I barely made it to my feet when the steel blade plunged deep into my left bicep. I let out a hurt yelp, and threw my arms up to brace myself for another attack, but my attacker was already running away from me.
"Who does that!?" I screamed after him, but he vanished outside in the snow and fog.
My beating heart calmed but my new wound was bleeding a lot, and survival instincts told me to stop it. After rummaging around in some long-lost luggage, I found a sweater to tie around the cut.
Compared to my last wound, this one wasn't so bad. Still, everyone here seemed to be against me.
That's when fatalism kicked in, and I lost hope for living. In fact, I was pretty sure I was already dead.
I pushed one of the sofas closer to the fire and sat, waiting for my knife-happy assailant to find me once more. As I numbly scanned my surroundings I noticed the graffiti. I uttered out loud the two words painted on the wall..
