I wake up under the porch. My head hurts and when I touch it it's sticky with blood. My right leg also hurts when I try to move it. "HEY IDIOT! COME HELP ME NOW!" I turn my head and see Zach with his legs trapped under a bunch of rubble.
He says a few swear words as the pile shifts. His face is streaked with dirt. "HELP ME!" I crawl over and grab his arm. I pull and he screams. "DIG ME OUT NOW BEFORE YOU TEAR UP MY LEGS!" I stop pulling and crawl over to the pile of rubble.
I see a bunch of broken glass, wood, and rock. When I start moving stuff I hear something shift and Zach screams. I look at him and see a huge piece of glass sticking out of his back.
"H-Hey. Alex?" I hear him rasp. I crawl over. He has a trickle of blood running out of the corner of his mouth.
"Sorry." He rasps. "For what?" I ask. He coughs and blood comes out. "For being a bitch." He tries to laugh but it comes out strangled.
I smile at him. "Thank you." He reaches out and grabs my hand weakly. "Promise me you'll get out. Okay?" "Okay." He manages a smile and then his body goes limp.
I cry but search for a way out so I don't end up like him. When I find a hole that I can crawl out of I crawl out and find the nearest payphone. When I locate it I phone the police and tell them what happened.
When they arrive an ambulance is with them. The paramedics check me out and take me to the hospital. When I get there they treat me for a concision and say I need surgery for my broken leg. When I wake up my leg is in a cast and propped up. I look around and see some tulips in a vase next to my bed. Probably from my parents they know my favorite flower is the tulip. But when I read the card I'm surprised by who's name is on it.
"Get well soon. Zach." I drop the card and start to hyperventilate. "Shhhh. Calm down." I hear someone say. I try to calm down and I look around.
"Hey I'm right here." When I look over next to the tulips I see Zach standing there.
"Hey look I'm sorry for being horrible to you. Can we start over?" "B-B-But you're supposed to be dead!" I stutter. "I am but it doesn't mean I can't still do stuff." He walks over and grabs my hand.
His touch feels like a slight breeze playing against my fingers. It also has a slight warmth. "You lived. And I want to make sure you're okay." He smiles at me. His black hair slightly messy and his blue eyes slightly glowing. I smile in return and he lays next to me holding my hand.
I fall asleep with Zach next to me.
