Jovan
^^^^^"Here you go." I smiled as I gave Iva her salad and rose for 8th time. This girl don't bother to bring lunch and I know she's starving. She either always looked hungrier than a bitch or sleepier than a bitch.
"What do you want from me?" She squinted her eyes as if she was trying to look for something. All I've been trying to do for the last week was taking her out on a date. She didn't hesitate her answer and I wasn't gonna give up.
"A date." I said honestly and she rolled her eyes.
"No."
"Why not?"
"I don't trust you." She shrugged.
"You're eating the food I buy for you." I laughed.
"Fair." She smiled.
"There's the smile." I said and she immediately went back to that serious ass face.
"So, tomorrow night?"
"You're just gonna keep asking, huh?"
"Yes ma'am." I smiled big. I could see that she was pondering the idea of it.
"Are you gonna take me to a restaurant?" She questioned and I chuckled.
"A very fancy one. I'll pay for it all and take care of you." I shifted myself towards her, being serious.
"Hmm, I'll text you and see if I'm free." She smirked.
"You don't have my number." I said with a confused face.
"Well don't be dumb, put it in my phone." She slid her phone to me. I was mentally turned on by her secretiveness. I saved my number in her phone and put my contact name as "Yo Bf💙" and she changed it to "Jovan🙄" she is so extra.
----
Pulling up to my house, I got a text from Iva. She said she was free and could meet me at the restaurant we planned to go to. I offered to pick her up and she said she could drive herself because she didn't trust me.
Understandable.
I walked into my house and called out to my brother, Byron. I yelled his name but got no answer. This was the 4th time he was out this week. He barely goes to school and is out with these hoes and them drug dealers.
I called his phone multiple times and got no answer. When this nigga got home he was goin' hear me.
---
It was almost midnight and he didn't even bother to call. I was mad as fuck and just hoping he was at least alive.
He finally walked through the door.
"You ain't bother to text or call?! I know you out with them hoes!" I came up in his face.
"It ain't even like that, man." He waved me off, looking high as hell.
"Nah, 'cause what is it like, nigga?! I got laid back rules and you still can't follow them! You don't gotta be home early. All I ask of you is to go to school and don't hang out with local hoes or them criminals. Now you ass is grounded and can't go anywhere but school."
"Jovan, leave me the fuck alone." he tried to walk pass me but I stepped in front of him.
"If I catch you outside talking to your fake ass friends, I will light you up. See if I'm playin'." I walked away from him and hoped he would listen.
Byron don't listen to shit. He's always hanging around the wrong crowd. Hanging out with those bitches will either get him killed or in prison. They're not looking out for him. I lived in a white neighborhood for the exact reason that I didn't want him around bad influences. However, there is only one school around the area and it's that ghetto ass school I gotta send him to.
I'd consider myself one of the most lieniant parental guardians. He doesn't even have to go to college. I didn't go to college and I make good money. Legally, too. He just had to get his highschool diploma and would be on his own. I didn't force him to do shit. One day, he'd appreciate me.
I shook the thoughts of my stupid ass brother and out my focus into my date with Iva. I was gonna make it special. For the simple fact that she barely agreed to go on this date anyway. I wasn't gonna mess it up.
