She groans, gripping her temples. The pounding in her head was unbearable, pushing herself up into a sitting position. Her eyes slowly fluttering open while she groans in pain. The luxuries room that greeted her was beyond words. The room was pour white from the silver chandelier to the shaggy carpet now laying beneath her sensitive feet.
Pushing her body off the comfortable white duvet draped across the crimson red comforter. Slowly limping over to the balcony door on the far left. She flinched in pain, gripping her lower abdomen, her free hand griping the sheer curtains pushing them to the side. The forest was the only view for miles.
Her fear's floating on the surface of her mind, reminding her of her encounter's in the forest. The reason she's been so scared to face the world. The reason she was so scared to let anyone in. It was her downfall, the saddest point her life. Releasing a calmest breath she could at the moment, turning on her heels heading towards the door she hoped was the way out. Twisting the knob she sighed in relief to see an empty hallway. Closing the door behind her glancing both ways before turning right. To her it seemed like the right way to go. The maze like hallway was impossible to figure out. After what seemed like her hundredth turn in the last hour she could hear voices.
"But it's your birth right Niklaus" an angelic voice said, from the room just right of her. The giant double door were slightly open giving her a slight view of the room, unlike the room she was in this one was gold with marble tiles and royal red carpet leading up a small flight of stair that had two gold and red throne's. In one of those throne a lady sat with so much grace it was hard to believe. Her appearance was similar to someone she knew.
"Mother' we've been over this, I'm not taking the crown" his voice made a small smile appear on her lips, but as soon as it came it went.
"What did he mean by that, is he..... a prince" she thought to herself. He's never once mention that he was a prince, come to think of it she can't recalling him even mentioning his family. Expect the fact that whomever had kidnapped her and the others was related to him in ways he wished the man did not.
His mother released a frustrated sigh, clutching her fist that were laid on the arm of the throne. "I don't see the reason for your answer, but so be it" she said, standing from her throne with a straight posture. "I'll see to it that everyone is aware of the threat" lifting her knee length dress stepping down the few steps.
Azaya yelped as surprise as she went flying to the near by wall. She groaned, glancing up at the foaming vampire standing before her, gripping her collar pulling her off the floor and off her feet.
"How dare you spy on the queen" he hissed, swinging his fist towards her face. Her eyes snapped close, waiting the impact but it never came. His hand no longer holding her causing her the fall on her wobbly feet. Her gaze now fixated on Klaus foaming frame facing her, his grip on the guys neck was stifling.
"How dare you lay on finger on my mate" Klaus growled, his blood red eye's glaring daggers at the poor guy. She could feel the anger radiating off him, pushing the pain aside she rushed to his side.
"Klaus put him down, I'm fine" she said, cupping his cheeks. Forcing him to look at her, her thumb slowly caressing his cheeks. "I'm fine" she whispered softly. Tipping on her toes, her soft lips pressing against his. He was hesitant, but eventually he released the young man wrapping his arms around the small waist of his mate. Pulling away, she gazed down at the young man gasping for breath. His hands slowly rubbing his bruised neck. "I'm sorry about him, he's a bit over protective" she apologized.
"Don't apologize to him, he hurt you, he should apologize to you" Klaus growled, clutching his fist.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know she was your mate" the young man stated, pushing himself off the marble tile. Fear in his voice was detectable.
"It's oka-"
"It's not okay" Klaus snapped, glaring down at him.
"Klaus, leave him be" his mother said, walking around him to help the young man. "You can go Benny" she said, making way for him to pass her by. Her gazing meeting with Azaya's as she tried to keep the foaming Klaus from going after Benny. "Who are you" she finally ask, bring both attention to her. Azaya gave her a small smile, once their eyes locked.
"I'm Azaya" she said softly in response.
"Azaya this is my mother Gracie, mother this is my mate Azaya" as soon as the word 'mate' left his lips a smile appeared on his lips.
"Thank the gods, my son has finally found you" she exclaimed, pulling her away from Klaus and into a bone crushing hug. If it wasn't for her growing strength she'd probably have at least twelve broken bones. "You are extremely beautiful, even prettier than that Cassy person he brought home last time" she explained as she examined Azaya's small frame. The confusion on her face was visible as the name passed Gracie's lips, a name she's never heard before.
"Mother" Klaus said In a warning tone.
"Well, then. Shall we get the men ready for the up coming battle" she said, clasping her hands. She knew her son well enough to know he hadn't mentioned his past to his mate. Even though she disagreed with his methods, this was his way of coping and she couldn't change that about him. She could see the love he had for his mate in his eyes, it was hard to miss.
"Your majesty, Larry's been spotted northeast of here" one of the vampire guards said, now standing before them.
"Gather a few of our best, we're going out there" Klaus replied, walking out behind the guard. He didn't make it too far before Azaya pulled him back.
"I'm coming with you" she told him, stepping closer.
"No your not" he shook his head, pulling her close to him. His lips brushing against hers. "I don't want you getting hurt, so stay here" peeking her lips lightly.
"But I can help, I can-"
"I SAID NO Azaya" he exclaimed startling her, stepping back out of instinct. "I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean to yell, I just don't want you getting hurt, promise me you'll stay here" Gracie was beyond surprised, it's been three hundred and thirty years since those words left his lips. He's never been one to apologize even when he was in the wrong.
"I promise" she said softly, peeking his lips once more before he stroked off. Gracie smirked, glancing down at Azaya fingers crossed behind her back.
