Her feet repeatedly tapping on the tiles in frustration. Her breath was shaky, watching the clock stroke one. It was an hour after midnight and the girls still weren't home yet. They would of called if they were staying by a friend are at their fathers house. But they didn't and Azaya knew not to stay out too late.
"I'm sure the girls are fine, probably fell asleep at Duran's and forgot to call" her father said, entering the kitchen with an empty bowl in his hand. He was positive about his response. It has happened once before two days ago, Duran had called to inform them about the girls spending the night.
"I know papi, but Duran hadn't called" Rita said in a worried tone, flipping her phone around in her hands. Her nerves were on edge at this point. The simple thought of them being in danger. She was they're guardian now, it was her responsibility to take care of them.
"Maybe he fell asleep too" her father shrugged it off, bringing the warm glass of milk to his lips. Her mouth gapped open ready to respond but was cut short by a knock at the door. Quickly pushing to her feet immediately rushing towards the front door ready to scold them for not alerting her of they're tardiness.
"Where have yo-" she stopped, as the door swung open revealing four man and not her two nieces. "Duran" she asked a bit shocked. He hasn't been here for year's. So him sudden popping up like daisy's was a shock. But if he was here where were the girls.
"Can we come in" he asked, pointing inside of the house. Rita was hesitant, her mind racing with questions as to why they were here, way so late at night, what was Klaus doing with Duran, and where were the girls. Rita finally nods, opening the door wider as to let them in.
Once inside she closed the door behind them and led the way back into the kitchen, where her father was downing his second glass of milk. His gaze turning towards them as they made they're way to the dinning table. Quickly removing the half empty glass of milk from his lips, choking on air at the sight of the two rival family under one roof that was still in one piece. This had to be a dream.
"What in the holy Mary Poppins" he breathed out, after catching his breath. All eyes were on him at this point.
"Elder" Duran asked, a bit shocked. Looking him over though he could only see what was displayed from his space behind the counter. The man standing behind the counter was indeed the elder, and keeper of the city gem. But he was rumoured to be dead.
"Duran" he replied, looking over at the other boys in the room. "may I ask you why you brought world war four into my house" he asked, referring to the fact that Klaus was standing beside him with a distant look in his eyes. A look that said something was wrong.
"Never mind that, are the girls at your house. They're not home yet" Rita asked, pulling the attention away from her father and to the matter at hand. Duran's shock his head, looking down at his feet.
"They've been kidnapped" Klaus said almost inaudibly, but however was heard by both Rita and her father. Her hands clasped over her mouth shock. Tears slowly welding in her eyes at the thought of something bad happening to them.
"By whom" her father's voice bombed, the glass cup in his grasp shattered by his tight grip. He cursed under his breath turning on the faucet to wash away the remaining glass.
"Larry" Duran sighed, running his fingers through his unruly curls in frustration.
"So this is all your fault" he growled, snapping his gaze towards Klaus who was lost in his thought. Though he still heard, he kept his gaze low as he replied.
"I didn't want her getting hurt, are caught by him"
"Then you should of stayed away from her" he yelled, stroking around the island towards him. Stopping only a few inches away from him.
"Papi stop" Riya said in a low tone, still trying to wrap her mind around the news. But they pretended as if she wasn't even present.
"I can't" Klaus said through gritted teeth, his voice raising just a bit, but loud enough to be heard clearly.
"An why can't you" he asked, glaring daggers at Klaus. His mind wild, the thought them being held captive by such a devious man with no self control are common sense made him boil in anger. And the thought that Klaus, the guy who's been around his granddaughter so much and that made her smile was the cause of her kidnapping.
"Because"
"Because what" he spat, cutting him off.
"Because she's my mate" Klaus exhaled, gazing up at the man before him who held both shock and confusing look, mirroring Rita's. Even Duran held the same expression since he wasn't told this earlier.
.
"What" Rita asked, baffled and speechless."That's impossible, S class vampires can't have mate's" her father said in confusion, backing away slowly. S class vampires were one of the most powerful and most dangerous vampires of all they were extremely rear and rumoured to not have mate's like normal vampires for various reasons.
"I didn't believe myself until we started talking, the spark and everything was there. I didn't wish to put her in harm's way, but I'll do anything it takes to get her back" he said sincerely, silently wishing things were different. Wishing his life wasn't as messed up as it is. Wishing she was here in his arms. She was never meant to be caught in the middle of his drama.
Neither of them was.
"I know you will" Rita said softly, resting her hand on his shoulder. Ever since Azaya's arrival, the change in Klaus's behaviour was unbelievable. She knew there has to be a reason as to why he was so calm around her. But she never expected Azaya to be his mate.
