"Your daughter spoke of an imaginary friend today named Abigale, you know she's a bit too old to have an imaginary friend, and she's disturbing the other kids..."
Silently my mother looked at me, my head down, messing with my hands.
"What did I tell you about talking about the ridiculous things you see? Next time I hear about this, you're being homeschooled."
I looked up and my eyes drifted behind my mother, Abigale sitting there with her arms crossed, shaking her head.
"But that'll make Abigale upset."
My mom shook her head, anger behind her eyes. She apologized to my teacher and hauled me out of the classroom, my shirt balled up in her fist. We got into the car, and sped home.
"What's wrong mom?"
"You're wrong. Everything about you is wrong. I wish I never had you."
