I woke up from a haze, forgetting where I was. It didn't take me long to remember. The padded walls... the locked door...
"Hello...?" I was facing towards the wall, speaking to nothing. "What am I doing here?" There was no sound. Everything in my mind was silent. This hasn't happened to me before. I've never actually felt alone...
I heard the door unlock behind me.
"Juniper, you have a visitor." A nurse I have seen before was speaking to me as if she knew me. "Who is it...?" I asked in hesitation. They're just here to laugh at me, aren't they...
Ethe walked through the door at no regard for her safety. "Juniper!" She squeezed me tight, not wanting to let go.
"A-aren't you scared..." I asked, shocked at the human contact. I haven't been hugged by another human in so so long. Ethe took my face in her hands and I could see the tears in her eyes. "Ethe..." I looked at her chest, I couldn't meet her eyes. "You've been in here so long...you realize you are going to get out soon, right?"
"How long have I been in here...?"
"Just three months, but it's felt like forever." Her voice wavered. Is she really scared of me after all?
"We are all worried about you, Juniper..."
The nurse walked into my room.
"It's time to go, Ms Ethe."
Ethe nodded at the nurse and looked back at me. "See you soon, Juniper."
She left with the nurse.
Is there hope for me yet...?
