A knock on the door woke me from my slumber. How long has it been? A day? Two? I turned to the door, my head aching.

"Hey, Juniper, it's time to eat." It was the nice nurse, the one that had taken me to the personality tests. I swung my feet over the side of the bed. "I'll eat if it's good food." I tried to joke. She gave me a soft smile, and brought in a tray. Soup. I was fine with soup, so I dug in, surprisingly very hungry.

"So, any updates?" I asked, taking in another spoonful. The nurse shrugged. "It's only been a couple hours, so I doubt it. But once I figure out, I'll tell you right away." She said, flashing a bright smile.

I didn't return the smile, but I appreciated it.

Ya know what would be funny? If you died right here because she poisoned you.

I stiffened, the intrusive thought bothering me. I dropped my spoon and pushed the bowl away. "I think I'm full..." I muttered, the possibility getting the best of me. She smiled, and took the bowl and tray and left the room.

I sighed softly, staring at the door.

You could be dying right now and not even know it.

I clenched my fists, and tried to ignore it. I swung my legs back onto the bed, and clicked the TV on. News? I guess, there's nothing else to watch. I sat back and watched the weatherman do a report on how the weather was going to be stormy, and fell asleep.

My eyes shot open, me in a bombed and destroyed hospital, still on that bed. I looked around, looking at the rubble. Very vivid dream. I tried to stand, but everything below my waist wouldn't move. I heard the sounds of birds, and looked up at the sky. Turkey Vultures, circling above. They started to get closer and closer until-

I opened my eyes, hyperventilating. They came at my eyes. Which makes sense, but it was a scary dream anyway. I looked at the TV, the sports section of the news was on, so I wasn't asleep for long. I sat up, rubbing at my eyes. "Jesus, glad I still have these..."

A nurse came in, one I wasn't too fond of. She has a raspy smoker voice and a motorcycle gang type attitude. "Your heart rate spiked, you good?" She asked, not even bothering to come all the way inside, she just looked at me through the door.

"Yeah, just had a nightmare." The nurse rolled her eyes and left. Okay then...that was rude. I looked away from the door, and faced the window. It was rainy and gloomy outside, but the rain was nice to fall asleep to. I drifted off again, the rain comforting me.
