Chapter 17

1 day later

Amelia came down last night and grabbed the kids to take them home. My mom and sisters were coming out this afternoon. Mer and I were leaving today with Lexie. Mer was still asleep and Lexie was asleep in her little bassinet. I got off the bed and left the room. I was walking to Amelia who was back in the lobby with the kids and with food. I was looking down at my phone.

"Derek" a familiar voice asked

I looked up

"Addison what are you doing here" I smiled walking towards her

She pulled me into a hug

"What are you doing here I thought you were dead" she said

She hugged me tight

"A long story with the government " I said

"I'm so glad, but honestly I was really in a bad place when you died. I missed you especially right after mark" she said tearing up

"And Meredith gave birth to our daughter Lexie" I smiled hard

"Oh congratulations I should go check on her soon" she smiled

"Hey we should hang out some time" I told her in a friendly way

"I would like that because I just took a job here" she said

"How's Henry and Jake" I asked referring to her son and husband

"They are doing great, but Henry and your kids should have a little play date. That would be really fun for him" she said

"Yeah we should set that up" I said

"Have you seen Amelia yet. I know she'd want to see you" I smiled

"I'll follow you" she said

We started walking down the hallway. We went to the lobby and went over to Amelia who was facing downwards.

"Daddy" Zola yelled running to me

"You guys are huge" addy said

Amy looked up

"Addison" she smiled getting up

I picked Zola up and watched Addison and Amelia hug each other. I grabbed the kids and we all started walking to Merediths room. I put Zola down and looked into the room. Meredith was awake

I opened the door

"Hey" I said walking over to her

The kids walked in

"Shhh your sisters sleeping" Mer whispered

They walked over to me and Amy came in with a bag of food.

"There's someone else here" Amy said

Addison walked in

"Addy" Mer smiled

"Hey Mer how are you" she said

"I'm doing pretty good what about you" Mer asked

"I'm doing okay" addy smiled

"Well I have food for everyone" Amelia said grabbing a bunch of burgers out of the bag of food.

She handed everyone 2. The kids sat down on the couch.

"Thanks Amy" everyone kind of said

I grabbed Lexie from Mer's hands and put her in the bassinet. Amy and addy came over and started playing with her. She was sleeping. I sat on the bed next to Meredith and we were all eating our burgers. We all ate and washed our hands. Lexie started waking up. Everyone held her in then handed her to me. I held her in my arm and everyone left. I got up and Amy brought Mer's wheelchair in. I put Lexie in her car seat. Mer got into the wheelchair and I grabbed our bags and Lexie. Amy pushed Mer and all the kids followed. Addison came up to us.

"Hey when you feel better let's do something" addy said to mer

"Yes that's yeah for sure" Mer said

We went outside and the kids got into the car. I put Lexie in there and Mer sat next to her while the kids were in the very back. I went in the drivers seat and Amy went to her car. We all drove home and walked inside. My mom and sisters all came to us and took Lexie. The kids ran upstairs and I helped Mer into our bedroom.

"Hey I can kick them out for awhile if you want to be alone with Lexie" I said helping her into the bed

"You guys take her for a little bit. I'm going to get some sleep" she said yawning

I took the blanket and covered her with it

"Ok" I said kissing her forehead

I walked out of the room and shut the door. I went over to my mom who was holding Lexie.

"Can I" I smiled

She handed me Lexie and I held her. I walked her up to her nursery and changed her. I put her into a purple onesie. I sat in the rocking chair with her and we rocked for a little bit. I put her in her crib and took one of the baby monitors. I left the room and went downstairs. My mom and my sisters were outside, but Amy was watching tv on the couch.

"Hey" I said

"Hey" she said a little sad

I went over and sat next to her

"What's wrong" I asked rubbing her back

"There's this guy" she said

I looked at her confused

"I-" she said and started tearing up

"I just found out I was pregnant and I love him but I don't know what to do" she said

"Well congrats I guess" I said hugging her

"It'll be okay I'll be here for you" I said

I pulled away from the hug

"Thank you" she whispered

I nodded and walked over to the kitchen. I heard someone clear their throat and I looked to my side. Meredith was looking at me. She started smiling

"What" she mouthed

"I know" I mouthed

She heard what Amelia said. She turned around and I followed her. We walked into our bedroom. I slowly shut the door.

"Ok tell me everything" she smiled

"Meredith I don't know" I smiled

"You have to" she said

"I don't pay attention to stuff like that" I said

"Mmhm" she whispered

"This is going to be crazy though" I said

I nodded

"Lexie's in her crib" I said

"Ok" she smiled

She walked out of the room and I followed her. We went upstairs and she went into Lexie's room. I went to the kids. They were all playing. I went into Lexie's room and Mer was holding her on the chair. She was feeding her. I shut the door and left. I went downstairs and outside. My mom and sisters were all on the beach playing. This was the life
