Chapter 64

I said goodbye to the kids while they were asleep. I left. I had to leave. I went to DC and snuck around the facility. I went through the broken vent. I jumped down into the room and it brought all of the flashbacks back. I hated this. I felt someone grabbed my hands. I turned around and punched them. More people came. I tried to put up a fight. I heard something

Bang.

I fell to the ground. Blood was everywhere. I put my hand on the wound. This was it. I lived the best life that I possibly could with my loves. See you soon Meredith.

Meredith's POV

I woke up and Derek was gone. He can't do this to me. I got up and left, looking for him. A nurse ran to me.

"Dr. Grey lay down. You can't walk like this" she said

"I need my husband" I cried

She walked me back to the room.

"He didn't come back. It's been 6 hours" she said

I sat down on the bed and kept crying

"I'm going to grab someone" she said

She came back with Addison and Amelia.

"Hey Mer" addy said

I looked up at her

"He's gone" I cried

They both started hugging me

"I'm sure he's fine" Amelia whispered

"I can't do this" I cried

Addy pulled away. She walked over to Nate and came back. She put him into my arms

"Look at this little guy. He looks exactly like his dad" she smiled

I looked down at him and smiled through my cries.

"He does" I smiled

He started waking up. His bright blue eyes were so beautiful. He looks exactly like him. It made me feel a little better.

1 month later

I have been raising Nate alone for about 4 weeks. It's so exhausting. Amelia and Addison have been helping out. We've been trying to figure out what happened to Derek. He'd call me by now. I put Nate down for his nap. I've been subbing in as Bailey's baseball coach and I don't know anything about baseball. He's been showing me a lot. The kids always ask for their dad and I keep telling them that he has a work thing. I honestly don't know what's going on. I left the house with Lexie in my arms. She's so big. I went to the mailbox and grabbed the mail. I walked in to the house and put it onto the kitchen counter. I saw a little box. I didn't order anything. I sat Lexie down and she ran to her toys. I opened the box. I took the bubble wrap out and looked at this beautiful ring. My wedding ring for Derek. Why did he send it back. I sat on my stool and looked at the engraving. I started smiling. I put it on my ring finger above my wedding ring. I looked more into the box and saw a letter. I opened it

I'm sorry. I have to be with her

Derek wouldn't leave me like this. We don't leave notes unless we will meet up later. I couldn't take the chance. I started crying.

"Mommy what's wrong" Zola said

"Nothing zozo. It's okay. Can you go play with your sister outside" I asked

"Yeah" she said walking over to Lexie

She took her outside. I kept crying softly.
