Mine and David's walk was continued in silence, neither of us knowing what to say after that Ace outburst.. what was I supposed to say. Every time I caught a glimpse of his face I could tell he was just overthinking the whole situation. I'd told him me and Ace hadn't slept together because that was the truth, we hadn't, but did he believe me?

"Just to check..." I started. "You do believe me about not sleeping with Ace?"

He paused and turned to me. "What did he mean he almost had you."

I took a deep breath, he clearly had been overthinking it.

"Me and Ace were somewhat friends and.."

"You were going to sleep with him." He finished my sentence.

I shook my head and my hands. "No no, well I hadn't planned to. We were just kind of kissing in his car but that's all, I swear."

David looked shocked slightly. "But why someone like him? The guys the literal definition of lowlife."

For some reason I felt myself tense up, Ace wasn't a complete lowlife.

"Like that guy could give you no future, being with someone like him would completely ruin your life. You'd have no money, no job and let's be honest no life fulfilment and satisfaction in general. You'd be the scum-"

SMACK!

I froze. David stumbled back, hands grabbing his face. What have I just done..

"Oh my god I am so so sorry-" I tried explaining as I reached my arms out to him.

He stepped back and stared at me in horror.

"You actually slapped me! You little bitch!" He shouted back.

Before I could do anything I felt his hand smash down on my face so hard it pushed me to the floor, I instantly brought my hand to my face, feeling tears brim my eyes.

"As my girl and future wife you will never lay a hand on me like that again." He shouted down at me. "Do I make myself clear?"

I nodded slowly as I watched him brush himself down before sighing, "Now get up and let's go home. This walk is over."

I nodded again and forced myself up, wiping my eyes and brushing my dress down, my face still stung.

"And you're not to see or talk to him again. My wife will not associate with those men." He said as he grabbed my arm and threw me forward along the path.

I started walking slowly as I thought about his words. I'm not to see or talk to him again. Well what's the one thing people do when they're told not to do anything? They do it. Ace was right all along. He wasn't what I wanted. He was what I needed. That escape.

I took a deep breath.

It's now or never.

Ace. Get ready.

I'm coming.

I felt my feet take a leap as I turned and began to run back towards Castle Rock.

I didn't get far before I felt a strong grip on my arm yank me back, I fell into David's clutch as I tried struggling and fighting my way free from him.

"I said no." David's voice boomed through me as I fought hard to escalate the grip both of his arms had around me.

This was a losing battle.

I felt my body go limp in his arms.

"Finally. Now. Let's go home. We have a wedding to plan."

I struggled for breath as I was shoved along the pavement before feeling his hand grip tight around my arm as he pulled me along.
