I WAS PAINTING A PICTURE
THE PICTURE WAS A PAINTING OF YOU
AND FOR A MOMENT, I THOUGHT YOU WERE HERE
BUT THEN AGAIN, IT WASN'T TRUE, GONE
AND ALL THIS TIME, I'VE BEEN LYING,
LYING IN SECRET TO MYSELF
I'VE BEEN PUTTING SORROW ON THE FARTHEST
PLACE ON MY SHELF

ーORDERED

to go on a night patrol, he exited the castle through one of the towers that overlooked the fields.

The moon highlighted Albedo's soft skin and features. His armour clicking together as he moved, he sheathed his longsword. His dusty golden badge bounced slightly as he kept walking till he reached the wall that separated the kingdom he protected and the outside world.

Daily night patrols weren't always assigned to Albedo, they usually had him conducting alchemical research along with Timaeus and Sucrose.

His mind wandered to pass the time. He hadn't noticed that he was now in the forest the townsfolk didn't dare to enter, saying it was where a sorcerer with ill intentions lives. They've said all types of distasteful things, calling them a hedge-born is one.

Some of the townsfolk were even going to go out of their way to contact the kingdom's executioner and have this person beheaded.

Albedo, still deep in thoughts, suddenly jolted and had his hold on his longsword. Thinking he was seeing things, he didn't pay much thought into what he thought he saw, a hooded figure. Using his longsword, he cut through bushes and branches of thick vegetation.

Hearing branches snap in the distance, he turned his head and squinted his eyes to see better. Not much light was able to enter as the leaves and branches on the trees obscured the moon from sight.

Staying completely silent, the snapping of the branches and the footsteps that followed were too heavy to be of an animal.

Blinking, he once again squinted his eyes. Carefully approaching whatever was there, his vision seemed to clear up a bit. Keeping a calm and stoic face, he walked and noticed it was the hooded figure from earlier.
