Emily wakes up to the smell of bacon and eggs. Before she gets up, her phone starts to ring. "Hello?" "Emily where are you? You said you would be home last night."It was Kendrick and he sounded pretty pissed. "I'm at a friends, tell mom my friends taking me to school and I'll be home after." "She's not here. We been calling her all morning, how are we going to get to school?"
"What do you mean? She should be she has to go to work." "We're just going to have to stay home." "Yeah be sure to email your teachers and let them know." The two end the call and Emily gets up.
"Oh so you can cook?" Emily says peeping her head through the kitchen. "Well I told you yes. Did you not believe me?" Emily was going to reply but got interrupted by Mr. Heins phone. "Hello?... Uh yeah I'm sorry I forgot to let you guys know I wasn't going to be coming in."
After Mr. Heins ends the call, he comes to the table and sets down the two plates. Before Emily could finish eating, her phone had buzzed.
Emily gets up and walks up to Mr. Heins room. "Where are you going?" He says following behind her now standing in the doorway. "I have to go home, my mom never came home and now my siblings are by their selves."
"Oh. Well where did she go?" "On a date with some random." "Well I'll go get the car star-" "No." "Why?" "We can't have people seeing that I was in your car." "Ah you don't need to worry about that."
The two walk to the front door, as soon as Mr. Heins opens the door he is greeted by a girl with brown hair and sunglasses. "Sky?" "Well I was hoping you were at school, way to ruin a surprise." She laughs then looking at Emily. "Oh this is- Uh my friend." Emily nods while smiling. 'Friend? That's new.'
"Oh well hi there." The girl shakes Emily's hand and Mr. Heins looks at Emily signaling her to get in the car. "So Sky, what brings you here?" "Well I was out doing business and remembered it's been a while since we last seen each other so I figured I'd stop by."
Emily watches from the car. 'Could she be his girlfriend? There's no way because if she were he wouldn't have kissed me. But what if-' Emily's thoughts were interrupted by a ding from her phone. A message from Henry.
"Well that nice maybe we can go out for some drinks when you come back. You know like old times." Mr. Heins freezes.
"Old times-" "Yeah, you know." Sky moves closer to his ear so that only them two could here. Emily notices but tries not to think to much of it.
They're not even dating why would she. "The times where we would go out, get drunk, and-" "Yeah as much fun as that sounds, I can't anymore. I have to get up at 6 am everyday and teach a bunch of seniors."
"Well this weekend?" "I'll think about it, but I have to go." "Hey wait up."
"You okay?" "Yes why?" "I don't know you seem a little off." "No I'm fine." Mr. Heins smiles then gets in his car. But he lied. He's not fine.
He now feels guilty of ever kissing and touching Emily the way he did. It was all a mistake and now that he thinks about it, he doesn't even know why he did.
They were only like a week into school. The whole car ride was silent, and when the two finally pull up to Emily's driveway Mr. Heins decides to speak.
"Hey Uh Emily." "Yes?" "Okay so I don't know how to put this bu-" "No please don't. I already know what your going to say."
"What was I going to say?" "That we can't do what we're doing anymore and all that shit because your girlfriends back in town." "Whoa slow down. First she's not my girlfriend."
