Two weeks have passed and Emily has heard nothing from Mr. Norman about the whole her and Mr. Heins situation.
She's been on edge every since they questioned her, and Mr. Heins still hasn't texted her back. She try's to catch him during school hours, but he does everything in his power to avoid her.
She can't blame him. But she misses him, and there's no telling when they'll be done with their "investigation".
"So I applied for like 5 different colleges.. is that too many?" Henry asks as they make their way to lunch. "No.. it's good to have other choices.. unlike me. I'm stuck with only 2." Tina says.
"What about you Emily?" Emily looks up. "I'm sorry.. what are we talking about?" Tina rolls her eyes. "You've been off all week.. what's wrong?" Rodger asks. "Nothing.. just nervous about college.."
"Emily can you come to the bathroom with me.. I have serious tea." Tina says as she pulls Emily up with her.
She checks under the stalls before looking at Emily. "Go talk to him." "I tried.. he always leaves his room when ever I walk in there.. we're under a lot of pressure.."
"Maybe they're done investigating.. that's probably why you haven't heard from them.." "Yeah.. but wouldn't they let us know.." "Emily.. he's nervous, you're nervous.. go talk to him. And if he try's to run away.. chase him. He knows you need to talk to him.."
"I don't want to sound like I'm desper-" "I'll guard his door.. I'll text you if I see anyone coming." Tina says as she pulls Emily towards Mr. Heins classroom.
She opens his door to a empty room. It was just Mr. Heins. He looks at her before standing up to leave. "Aron.."
Tina steps in his way. "I think she's trying to talk to you.." He clenches his jaw before turning around. Tina closes the door as she steps out. "You can't be here.." "Why the hell are you avoiding me?" "You know why.. which is why you need to le-"
"Are we over?" She asks as a tear runs down her face. He looks away while sitting down in his seat. "Emily.. I don't know.. maybe it's best.." "Bullshit.. why now?" "Because I was blackmailed.. because I almost lost my job.. because you deserve to be with someone your age.. in a relationship that isn't so complicated.."
She wipes her face as she walks up to his desk. "I want to be with you.. relationships are complicated, but we can deal with that.." "Emily.. I want to be with you too.. but.."
"But what?" "We just can't.." "Aron.. please don't make me beg.." He stands up. He wipes the tear off her face before cupping her face to kiss her softly.
"I love you Emily.. I really do.. I want what's best for you.. you have a future ahead of you and I don't want you worrying about us.. or me getting caught.. you're about to be in college.. you should start fresh.." "I haven't even applied for college yet.. Aron I want you.."
"Goodbye Emily.." He wipes his tear before heading towards the door. As he exits Emily sits at a desk with her head down. Crying as the pain hits her chest. "Emily.. what happened?" "We're done.. all because of Violets fucking mouth.. if she didn't see us.. none of this would've happened.."
Tina hugs Emily tightly. "It's his loss Emily.." "And mines too.. I fucking loved him.. Tina I never in my life cried over a guy.. this shit hurts.." She cries into Tinas shoulder.
Aron's POV
As he makes his way back to his class, he hears Emily's voice. Her and Tina were still in there, and he hears as she cries out. He looks down.
This hurts him as much as it hurts her, but maybe she'll move on, and start a better life. He did it for her. At least that's how he feels. The other day he saw her and Rodger laughing together.
She looked so happy. And it made him realize that maybe he's making her miss out on a lot. They had this conversation before, but now college is coming up. He truly wants to be with her, but she needs some time to realize that there's much more to life then their relationship.
He makes his way to the office to inform them about his decision to quit. He could use this time to give Emily space. And to think.
Emily's POV
Emily wipes her face before making her way to her locker. "You're leaving early?" Rodger asks. "Yeah.. I don't really feel good." "Oh.. I'm sorry. Can I bring you some hot chocolate later on? My dad's letting me use his jeep."
Emily smiles softly. "Sure.. thanks." "No problem.. I hope you feel better." He smiles as he makes his way to class.
Emily pulls out her phone as she sits in her car. She pulls up her and Mr. Heins conversation. There were only the messages she sent telling him to call her back. She sighs as she presses delete contact.
Maybe she was the one being hard on him. He was under a lot of pressure. He's the one with something to loose, the only thing Emily could loose was a good reputation.
Even though she deleted his contact, she still remembered his number by heart. She pulls up his number to text him one last time.
"I'm sorry.. this whole time you were worried about your job.. and I was too selfish to care. I only cared about us.. You worked hard to get the job that you have now. And I would've screwed that up for you. So you were right.. I don't regret being with you and I hope you don't either. I had fun with you.. our relationship was like a romantic story that I used to fantasize about.. I love you Aron Heins.. and I want you to know that even though we're over.. I will never stop loving you.. goodbye..❤️"
