Busted

"Hey.. did Zoe text you yet?" Henry says as they make their way to homeroom.

"No. If she's pregnant I'm sure she's just figuring things out." "What things? Like if she's going to keep it or not?"

"Maybe. I have to get to class." "Emily.." He grabs her arm. "If she's pregnant I want her to keep it. I won't let her kill my baby."

"It's not really your choice is it?" "I should have a say in it.." Emily locks eyes with Mr. Heins. "I have to go. We'll talk later."

She smiles as she walks pass him. "Good morning Mr. Heins." He turns around to a empty class. "Good morning Mrs. Hays."

"So no more Aiden?" "Well I haven't seen him yet.." He walks closer to her. "Kids will be storming through that door any second."

"I know.. I missed you. You didn't text me all weekend." "I know.. I've been trying to keep Henry company.. he thinks our friend-"

She pauses to think. Could this get them in trouble if she told a teacher? "Your friend.." "Is mad at him.. he doesn't like when people are mad at him.. how's Robby?"

As he begins to answer a group of kids come in. Greeting Mr. Heins as they sit in their seats. He smiles at her before stepping back into the hallway.

"I'm literally in love with Zack right now." Tina says as she sits down next to Emily. "Why?" "Look at what he bought me." She places her hand on Emily's desk.

"Whoa.. a promise ring? You guys married now?" Tina laughs. "Yeah you jealous?"

"Of course not." "Yeah because you have Aiden." She laughs as she pulls out her phone. "Uh no.. actually we umm.. we were never together, and he moved I think."

She looks at her. "Oh I'm sorry.." "No, no it's good.." Emily thinks back to the night she nearly beat him to death.

She felt so relieved afterwards. Like she had just freed a wild animal dying to get back into the wilderness.

"Good morning everyone. As you must know it's that time of the year again.." Mr. Heins starts as he sits down at his desk.

"Midterms. Like usual I'm going to call you up here, and we're going to discuss your grades, and what we can do to improve them. While you wait I suggest you start working on any missing work."

As everyone worked, and waited to be called up Emily and Tina talked with with Zack. "So he just moved? He didn't even come to tell you bye or nothing?"

"Yeah.. he had texted me when we got home from the dance." "I'll kill him when I see him for you." Tina says dramatically. "Thank you Tina that's very kind and respectful of you." Emily laughs.

"Emily Hays." Mr. Heins says sternly without looking from his computer. He didn't look to happy, and Emily's sure she knows why.

"First I would like to say that I'm very, very proud of you for passing all of your classes," He looks at her, and she smiles.

"All of your classes except for mines.." Emily looks away. "I just don't understand.. mind telling me why? I thought I was your favorite.."

"Well I guess I got thrown off.." She looks around at all the busy students and leans in. "You were kind of being a jerk recently.. and I guess that could be the issue."

He frowns. "About that.. I never really made it up to you did I?" She looks around. "Not really.." Emily's phone buzzes.

'What you guys whispering about?' It was Tina. Emily quickly looks up at her and smiles. "Something I'm missing out on?" Emily looks at Mr. Heins and shows him the message Tina sent her.
