"Hello?" Emily answers her phone as she gathers her things in her bag.

"Emily please come back." It was Nora. "I will soon. Why?"

"Because moms arguing with the boys almost everyday now. And I'm afraid I'm next."

Emily grabs her bag as she makes her way downstairs.

"Ok I'll come over there after school. I have to go."

"You ready bitch." Tina says as she starts up the car.

"You guys want to come over later?" Henry says as he walks up to the two. "I'm down. Emily?" "Yeah, but can we go to my house first?"

"Yeah of course." "Hey Henry." A kid says as he catches up with the group. "Yo what's up Aiden. Y'all this is my friend Aiden. He's new."

"Hey." The two girls say in sync. "Where you from?" Emily says.

"Northfield.. that school sucks." "I heard of that school.. aren't they like racist." Tina says as they stop by Henry's locker.

Emily catches Mr. Heins eyes. He signals with his finger for her to come. "I be back guys." Emily walks towards Mr. Heins who was standing outside of his classroom.

"Am I in trouble?" He laughs. "No Emily I need you to do something." She looks around.

"I don't know why your so paranoid. We're just talking." He smiles as he leads her into his class.

The room was empty, all the kids were either getting off the bus or putting their things in their lockers.

"I have to go to court today and I won't be able to fix up my hou-" "Yes I can. I'll make sure everything is just right for the inspection."

Emily sits down at her desk as the kids start making their way in. "Thank you Emily." He smiles as he walks over to a group of kids calling his name.

"Yo where did you go?" Tina says as she sits down. "I had to talk so someone." Emily looks at Mr. Heins. She watches as he jokes with the group of kids. She smiles to herself.

"Ohhh.." Tina says as she looks in Mr. Heins direction. "What?" "Oh my God Emily if you like him just say that." Tina laughs as she pulls out her phone.

Emily freezes. "The fuck are you talking about." Emily laughs as she gets up to "Sharpen her pencil" She had to get out of that situation.

She wasn't planning on telling Tina. She doesn't know why. She just feels that there isn't really a reason to tell her.

"Ok the bell rung everyone should be seated." Mr. Heins says as he makes his way towards his desk.

For the rest of homeroom everyone was quiet. Tina and the class were catching up on work.

And Emily had fell asleep. She woke up 5 minutes before the bell and the whole time she had been staring at Mr. Heins.

He looked stressed as he went through a bunch of custody papers.

Everyone gets up as the bell rings. "Are we still going to Henry's house?" Tina says as the two walk down the hall.

"Oh about that, I won't be able to." They sit down at their table in the library.

"Why not?" "I'm going to spend the day with my sister. She misses me." "Aww okay. So I'll drop you off over there. Then I'll be at Henry's. Just call me and I'll pick you up."

"Okay thank you." School went on, and eventually it was time to go home. "Emily do you need me t-" "Mr. Heins may I have a word with you?"
