It was now Christmas Eve and Emily has been irritated since last Friday. Today was now Thursday. Her and her brothers were still staying at her aunts, and they got to talk to their mom at least once a week.
They were now on their way to pick her up for Christmas tomorrow. "What's wrong with you? You've been bitchy all week.. It's Christmas Eve Emily."
Kendrick asks as they wait in the car for their mom. "Nothing.. mind your business." Emily says as she pulls out her phone. "Aron.. plz text me the fuck back.. what do you mean we can't do this anymore? Call me or something..!"
Every since she got that text from him he hasn't texted or talked to her since. He didn't show up to school Friday, and now she's starting to worry. She would try to go to his house, but her family wouldn't let her.
She doesn't want to believe that he's ready to end things between them. It hurts her too much to even think about. So she decides to play some games on her phone while they wait.
"Hey mom!" Nora says as she gets into the car. "Hey guys I missed you all so much!" She says while turning around to hug everyone. Emily smiles and hugs her back. "We missed you too.."
"Ok so we all baked you special welcome home cookies.. that should be ready by time we get home." Their aunt says as she starts the car.
Emily sits outside on the porch while everyone talks and eats cookies inside. She stares at the message he had sent her. A tear runs down her face as she deletes all their messages.
"Hey.. you ok?" Her mom asks while standing in the doorway. Emily quickly wipes her face. "Yes.. I'm fine. You like the cookies?"
"I love them.." She sits down next to her. "How have you been?" Emily looks down. "I've been ok.. what about you?" "I've been ok.. I missed you.." Emily smiles. "Same.. we all have.."
"Listen.. your aunt talked to me.. she said some pretty deep things that I took to heart.. I haven't been there for you guys.. and yeah.. I was upset about your dad.. but I think it's time to let him go.. to let the late night dates, and drinking go.. I never apologized after that argument we had, and I wanted you to know that I am truly sorry.. and I'm going to do better.. not for me, but for you and your siblings.."
Emily begins to cry. "Please don't apologize.. half of it was my fault.." "Emily don't say that." Her mom says while pulling her in for a hug. They hug for a long time before heading in.
Emily smiles while watching her brothers and sister laugh and smile as they joke around with their mom and aunt. It's been a while since they were all together and smiling. Emily misses it. And In this moment she had forgot about the whole her and Arons situation.
She didn't feel like worrying about that. Right now she just wants to be happy with her family. It's been a while, and she hopes it can last.
"Emily wake up! It's Christmas!" Nora says while jumping on her bed. Emily smiles as she sits up. "Ok I'm coming down."
Before Emily gets up she checks her phone. Even though she told herself not to worry about her and Aron. She just couldn't help herself.
She hoped that he had at least told her merry Christmas, but he didn't. She texts Tina and Henry then heads downstairs.
"Look what I got!" Nora yells as she jumps up and down. It was a new phone. "Wow.. that's great." Emily smiles as she opens her gift.
When Emily sees the small box she freezes. "Are you gonna open it?" Her mom smiles. "A new watch?" "You have to open it." They laugh.
Emily slowly opens the box to a set of car keys. "No.. fucking way.." Emily says under her breath. "Want to go see your car?" Emily smiles as she quickly gets up.
She covers her mouth when she opens the front door to a red 2016 Dodge Charger srt. "Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!" She says while hugging her mom and aunt tightly.

"Come on let me show you how to drive. It's real easy." Her aunt says while getting into the passenger seat.
After about a hour of driving around Emily and her aunt make their way back home for breakfast.
"I'll have to get you the books, so you can study for your driving test." Her mom says as she enters the kitchen.
Emily smiles. "Thank you so much.. I love it." She says while giving her mom a giant hug. Riley smiles. "So I'm guessing mines is at home."
Everyone laughs as they sit down at the table. After breakfast Emily and her siblings FaceTime their grandparents wishing them all a merry Christmas since they wouldn't be able to visit them this year.
After that everyone packs up the car. "Thank you so much Jannen. You sure you don't want to come with us?" "No I'm sure. This is your chance to spend time with them before school starts back."
The two share a hug before hopping in Emily's new car. "You ready?" Her mom asks as Emily starts her car.
"I think so.." Emily smiles as she slowly pulls out of the driveway.
