Why the struggle? Why the strain?
Uncharacteristically, Logan smiled when Jean joined him in the kitchen and she noticed almost immediately. "What has you in a good mood?" She opened the freezer with a huff, as if his mood was off-putting.
Logan shrugged as he sipped his coke. "Nothing." He tried to force the look from his face as Jean settled on the stool across from him a spoon and ice cream tub in her hands.
"Nikolas?" She said it with a telling smile that hid something.
"Maybe." He took another sip. Some part of him was rather pleased that the doctor had finally woken up, as he could see what all of the fuss was about. In the short amount of time that he had spent with the doctor he had decided that he liked him well enough, and that the man may even be able to provide insight into his past.
Jean frowned slightly, the emotion drastically different then the previous teasing smile. "He not as tough as the Professor makes him out to be." She took a bite of her ice cream. "He's been through a lot."
Logan leaned back, only slightly aware of what she meant. Her tone was telling, she was afraid that he would hurt Nikolas, push him just past the edge. "I can tell." It was all he could think to say.
"He doesn't know his limits Logan."
"I know." He didn't, but had a feeling based fully on the way that he had only woken up a few days ago and had already agreed to help five students with their control over their gifts. He leaned back on his stool, "What can he do? The Professor wouldn't say."
Logan hadn't specifically asked, but the Professor had still been secretive.
Jean smiled in an excited way. "He is the most powerful mutant I've ever seen." She set her spoon into the container, pushing it away from her as she took in a deep breath. "Telekinesis-"
"Like you?" Logan smiled as he asked. "That's not rare."
Jean shook her head, "I never said that what he could do was rare, just that he was powerful. More powerful than me, that's for sure." She leaned forward, "Telepathy, like the Professor, though more so."
Logan hummed, sipping his coke as he motioned for Jean to continue.
"And then there's this one power that he has, I can't explain it well, but basically he has these tattoos on him that become real things." She made a motion to her back, "His wings are that way."
Logan nodded. "The design on his arm too?"
Jean hesitated, "Probably, he didn't have that the last time I saw him." She concentrated hard, her hand reaching for the spoon without touching it. A small display of power that took much to out of her to try again. She swallowed the bite, "Technology Manipulation."
