The necklace

Hazel's POV:

I opened my eyes to find myself in a dark room. Ouch. My head really hurts. I looked around. Brooms, mops, spare beds, this must be the storage room on the bottom floor of the ship.

"Well, look who's awake."

Then everything came flooding back in.

I glared into the kidnappers eyes. She smiled evilly at me.

I walked to the bathroom, awaiting Lavinia. Looking around, I notice someone behind me while I look at the mirror. I give her a half smile. She doesn't return it.

I turn around. "Is something wrong?"

Then I see her face. Of course, Bethania Fyseal came onto this ship. Where I was staying. To get me.

You see, Bethania Fyseal was a very rich Russian girl in Hong Kong. She believed that my family were supposed to be her slaves. She also thought that all my family's money was hers.

One day, Bethania walked up to our doorstep, demanding to be let into 'her house'. I was reading my English books father gave me in the garden. I was only eight. Before Su Li (my maid) could stop me, I walked up to her. Thinking she needed help, I hugged her, accidentally pulling her diamond necklace off her. When she noticed, she screamed at me. The guards grabbed her arms, not noticing me holding her necklace. Alarmed, I brought my arms up, making the necklace go flying. At this, Bethania lunged for me. But the guards pulled her out of the garden, back into the Hong Kong streets.

Vengeful, Bethania Fyseal kept trying to get back her necklace, but no one believed what she told them.

Bethania definitely disguised herself on the ship. With her mousy—brown hair and spotty face, she was an odd figure.

"I want my NECKLACE!" She screamed. "Where IS it?!"

"I—I don't know!" I stuttered, hands cuffed to the chair I was sitting on.

"Well, if you don't tell me where it is, you'll have hell to pay..." she said calmly.

"B—but that was years ago! I don't know where it is now!" I whimpered, knowing what she was thinking of.

"Well then," she said, "You will be punished."
