Olivia pov
"I know this guy in my English class used to like you, you could ask him?" Claire says as we walk to Calum's house to watch the practice, I've still had no luck finding someone to go with to the carnival. Everyone is always scared of me or thinks I'm already dating Luke or they're scared of Mikey. It was hopeless and I only had a few days left.
"Um yeah maybe, do you know if Luke has a date yet?" I ask hoping he hasn't either, I don't wanna be the one who loses the bet unless we both lose.
Claire chuckles, "I heard him asking some of the cheerleaders but they all seemed to say no because they already have dates...have you spoken to Ashton yet?" he says looking at me she knew I had been avoiding it.
"Actually I talked to him after school the other day, it was weird but we both agreed that we were better off to just be friends, I think I never actually liked him, just the idea of him, he felt the same way and has actually met someone he really likes, I think her names Tessa or something." I smile slightly, I'm glad he's happy and I get to meet Tessa at the carnival too which will be nice.
Claire smiles, "I'm glad you are back to normal, I felt so awkward about the whole thing when the group is together I don't know whether to talk to him or not."
"Yeah, the boys didn't seem to realise I can make my own decisions about this stuff," I shrug, "This whole find a date thing is stupid though, it's a carnival, not prom, why did we decide we needed dates," I say as I roll my eyes.
"Well, I think it was your idea, you'll find someone the right guy might end up in front of you," Claire chuckles and rings Calum's doorbell.
I sigh leaning on the door frame, "oh yeah...don't remind me..." I grumble.
"You're the one who brought it up silly," she chuckles, as the door opens.
"Finally you guys are here we started ages ago," Mikey jokes and kisses Claire on the cheek.
I roll my eyes, "Tough, we wanted our girly chats before coming. We hardly get any best friend time anymore," I chuckle sticking my tongue out at him as I walk in. "is everyone in the basement?"
He chuckles and nodded pointing me in the right direction as he put an arm around Claire's shoulders. I head down the stairs and flop on the couch pulling out my phone.
"Oh hey, Olivia, nice to see you," Calum says sarcastically, probably because I just went straight on my phone. I give them a wave without looking up and they go back to whatever they were talking about until Michael comes back down.
Claire sits with me and watches them eagerly. They play a few songs but I don't really listen to them much, they're good tunes but I was only there for Claire. That's until I hear them play a song that they haven't figured out the title for yet but the lines seemed to make me pay more attention.
"Life's a tangled web
Of cell phone calls and hashtag I-don't-knows
And you, you're so caught up
In all the blinking lights and dial tones
I admit I'm a bit of a victim in the worldwide system too
But I've found my sweet escape when I'm alone with you"
This made me think of me and Luke's sleepovers that haven't had for weeks, did he write a song about us? That's weird...
You are my getaway
You are my favourite place
We put the world away
