Chapter 14: Panicked Kisses

Olivia Pov

As we got closer to the stage Luke started mumbling to himself I heard a few words like, 'failure 'drop out' 'quitter' as we walked "hey Luke calm down..." I say looking up at him he's gone pale and looks really flustered and shaky, I stop him so he can catch his breath.

"What if we fail, what if they think we're bad, what if they throw food at us" he mutters, not taking a breath between words.

"Luke calm down it'll be fine," I say trying to calm him down, I hold his hand pulling him behind some portaloos so that he's out of the crowd, "Luke you have to breathe, and calm down, everything is going to be fine you are going to do great," I say looking up at him, searching his eyes for any sign of calm.

He looks so... scared and he's shaking like a leaf, it was horrible I didn't know how to deal with it, usually, he looks after me not the other way round.

"Luke think of happy things, your friends, stuff like that and take deep breaths..." I say as I watch him take sharp breaths and he can't keep still.

He shakes his head, "No, no it won't they'll throw tomatoes at us," he says turning to me "what if I forget my lines what if-" he starts again and without thinking I reach up and kiss him. I don't know why I kissed him, but I didn't know what else to do, I didn't want to slap him in case it made it worse.

And feel him calm down again before I pull away "what was that for?" he manages to stutter out looking down at me.

"I saw it on teen wolf... if you kiss someone when they're having a panic attack they hold their breath," I say putting my hand through my hair "it was stupid though,"

"You watch too much tv..." he smiles lightly, before looking down at his feet "we should head backstage... the boys will be wondering where we are"

I nodded, feeling very awkward as we walked backstage, and the boys all came running over "we're on in five where have you been!" Michael yells as he rushes over and unlocks the handcuffs "it doesn't matter are you ready? Liv goes to find Claire, she's out front already" I simply nodded happily to run away from the situation.

Why did I have to kiss him? Why do I feel so weird about it? It was a simple kiss. I can't even talk to Claire about it, she'd tell Mikey and then he would get mad at Luke. I just need to forget it ever happened and go back to normal...

I spot Claire at the front of the stage and make my way over to her, "Liv yay you're finally here! I got us both some drinks" she smiles handing me a cup of what looked like coke but I smelt like JD and coke.

"This is why I love you Claire" I grin taking a sip of the familiar liquid as the band comes out.

A pink-haired girl comes towards us, "there you are claire, oh you must be Olivia, I'm Tessa Ashton date." She smiles brightly at me.

"Oh hi, Ashton told me you were coming!" I grin trying to be as normal as possible she seems really friendly.

"Hello, North Sydney high!" Micheal says excitedly into the mike "we are 5seconds of summer and this first song is don't stop!" he smiles winking at claire. She had told me he'd written a song about her but I sorta did not believe it till now. Claire and I danced along to the song, I tuned out slightly because I'm still thinking about what happened with Luke.

I try to snap out of it as I chat with Claire about Micheal between songs, "It's so cute that he wrote you a song. It works well with you two," I say as they finish the song.

She blushes looking at her shoes, "I think he's going to ask me to be his girlfriend tonight, he's been so sweet all night"

"You guys are the best couple I swear," I smile as I take a sip of my drink, I wasn't jealous. I was really happy for both of them. I just wish that I could have someone that would treat me the way he treats her.

The boys played a few more songs including the one they called 'disconnected' and they ended with a song called heartbreak girl, I wasn't sure what to think of it, the lyrics seemed to hit me like a ton of bricks but I didn't know why. I shake it off and down my drink in an attempt to ignore the voice in my head saying 'you liked that kiss, just admit it'

Claire, Tessa and I go and get drinks for the boys and bring them backstage, "you guys were great out there!" Claire smiles hugging Michael.

"Yeah those songs are really good" I smile leaning on a wall, sipping my drink.

They're all excited, thriving on the adrenaline from playing, "we should go do on some more rides or something?" Ashton says jumping up and down, holding Tessa's hand

Micheal chuckles, "yeah! But first, Luke and Liv need the handcuffs back on"

I roll my eyes, "really Mikey, I just wanna go home..." I complain not wanting to be anywhere near Luke at the moment, I felt too awkward.

"You're not going home it's only 7 pm we're gonna be here for hours" he chuckles pulling me towards Luke.

I glare at him but reluctantly put my hand out so he can put the handcuffs on me and Luke, "it's not that bad is it?" Luke chuckles down at me, why doesn't he look awkward at all, does he just have the aura of 'cool guy' all the time?

"Shut up hemmings" I mutter quickly, "can we go on the big coaster? I loved that one?" I say looking at the others as everyone else just looks at me like I'm mad. "What? Didn't anyone else think that was the best one here?" I say with a confused look

"It goes so high up," Claire says looking up at it.

Micheal has an arm around her waist holding her close, "I think it's worse in the dark" he mutters.

"Why do you like it so much?" Luke asks looking down at me.

"You get to see such a great view when you get to the top and then on the way down if you close your eyes it feels like you're flying," I say as if it's obvious.

"I had my eyes closed the whole time, and felt like shitting myself the whole time" Calum grumbles shaking his head.

"You guys are such wimps," I mumble rolling my eyes.

Luke chuckles "if you wanna go on it that much I'll come with you," he says messing my hair up.

I swat his hands away "fine, but can we get some more drinks first?" I smile after downing mine.
