Chapter 15: Fights and Flights

Luke and I split from the group after we had some more to drink, I was still feeling awkward around Luke but was trying to hide it by being grumpy and just avoided talking to him, "why are you in such a mood?" Luke says as we walk.

"None of your business..." I mumbled quietly not even looking up at him.

"Ok..." he says, obviously confused.

After that, we stayed quiet until we got to the ride and everyone was cueing up to get on, I smirked and turned to Luke "dare you to not hold on!" I think the alcohol was kicking in because I wouldn't have said something like that usually.

He looked at me surprised that I said anything at all because I had been ignoring him, "um... but..fine..." he chuckles after a second not wanting to get me more annoyed. "But if I do it, I dare you to do something else later" he smirks back.

"Sure...." I chuckle as we sit down, the ride starts. I slap Lukes hands away from the railing because I spot him reaching for it and he just shoots a glare at me and I stick my tongue out at him playfully. And then we get to the top before the big dip and raise my hands letting out a little 'woohoo' as the ride flies downwards and I make Luke put his hands up too, it feels amazing like you're flying or something.

The ride goes up to the second point and you can see the whole town and the lights in the distance. It's amazing, I am in complete awe, Luke smiles and I think he forgets that it's a rollercoaster because I can feel him relax next to me.

That's until the drop comes after a few seconds.

"Shit, shit, shit" Luke mumbles, grabbing onto my hand quickly remembering the dare.

I chuckle slightly and whisper "scaredy-cat" I smirk and pull our hands up enjoying the breeze on my face.

"Weirdo" I hear him chuckle in response.

The ride comes to an end and we both jump out of the cart, "you were scared, you were scared" I tease him, poking him playfully, fully forgetting about my plan to ignore him.

He swats my hand away, "Whatever Ortega, Why don't we go on something a bit tamer next?" Luke says looking around, "Ferris wheel?"

I look over in the direction of the Ferris wheel, the idea of it is nice when you're in a couple but the idea of being stuck next to Luke for the whole ride isn't sitting well with me. Plus I always feel like I'm going to fall off, I know I just went on a rollercoaster and loved it but I think it because the wheel turns so slowly and you have more time to think about it.

"You are not scared, are you?" Luke chuckles, snapping me back to reality when I didn't say anything.

Look up at him "what no, course not...." I mumble as we reach the wheel.

"Hey, I've come up with a dare for you.." Luke smirks down at me as we sit down, "you have to shout when we get to the top of the Ferris wheel, doesn't have to be words you just scream and let out any built-up anger. It's my favourite thing to do on a Ferris wheel"

I'm all set to fight back whatever he says to the dare, and then I think about it, "That... doesn't sound so bad, I kinda like that idea" I sigh slightly as we get on the ride.

He chuckles, "I come up with good ideas sometimes."

I roll my eyes and try to get comfy on the seat with Luke "are you sure this thing is safe..." I say looking up at the thing that attaches us to the metal frame.

"You are scared aren't you?" he smirks enjoying my pain, "weren't you just telling me not to hold on, on a roller coaster that goes upside down?"

I hit his arm, "shut up, that's completely different, it's fast and if there's a problem then your fixed onto several points... on this, there's one nut and bolt holding us onto the rest of the wheel... if it breaks then we fall to our deaths" I say leaning back into our pod so I don't look up or down.
