Queen Bee followed Chat Noir, Ladybug, Carapace, Rena Rouge, Percy and Annabeth all the way to the Agreste estate.
"Okay," Annabeth said. "Queen Bee, you're with me, okay? We'll go ahead, the rest of you follow in five minutes." She gave a nod of confirmation and followed the older girl towards the front of the house. All the lights were off. Annabeth went straight to a window around the side of the house, and Bee guessed that it was the entrance she had used to rescue Percy. Chloé had been in the house before, but sneaking around early in the morning was very different to being invited in. The entrance was dark and deserted, as were the kitchen, the dining hall and study.
Whilst they were still in the study, Annabeth went over to the painting of Emilie and studied it.
"What are you doing?"
"It's an oil painting."
"Yes, now let's go before we get caught!"
"No... Oil paintings aren't meant to be covered, but this one has glass. Why would anyone do that, unless..." she reached out and pressed four separate points of the painting, and Queen Bee gasped as a circle of the floor lifted slightly. "There are fingerprints on the glass," Annabeth said by way of explanation, beckoning Bee to join her on the platform. It was a bit of a squeeze, and they had to awkwardly hug each other to fit through the hole that appeared in the floor. As soon as the platform clicked into place in a dark room filled with fluttering white butterflies, Bee stepped quickly away, almost slipping on something that seemed suspiciously like colourful glitter in the dim light. Annabeth looked around, taking in the large window that was covered with what looked like a giant camera shutter.
"I thought there would be more of you," came a familiar voice, and Hawkmoth stepped out of the shadows with a sly grin, resplendent in his usual purple suit, mask and cane. "Hello, Chloé dearest."
"I- you- I thought you took his miraculous!" Queen Bee whirled towards Annabeth, who looked surprised for a moment then quickly whirled around, eyes narrowed.
"It's a tra- mmph!"
"Venom!" Bee yelled, summoning her power, but it was too late. The real Gabriel Agreste was suddenly behind Annabeth, pinning her arms to her sides, one hand over her mouth. Hawkmoth joined him, brandishing a roll of tape, and together they dragged her out of sight.
"What-" Queen Bee whirled, betrayal and fear on her face, just as Mayura leapt forwards and pushed her stinger into her own side. Bee froze, paralysed by her own power. Mayura moved away, and she was unable to turn to see where she'd gone. She was behind the platform where she and Annabeth had come up, and she could see Hawkmoth come back into the light so the others would see him when they came up. His masked face was slack and he was unnaturally still. Queen Bee realised he must be a sentimonster.
There were faint voices below, and she tried to yell out, to warn the others, but she was totally frozen. Only her eyes could move, so she could see the heads then bodies of her fellow heroes and Percy appearing one by one as the platform rose again. Ladybug and Chat Noir came first, squished together. The Hawkmoth sentimonster grinned broadly, presumably at Gabriel's instruction form a shadow somewhere. Queen Bee tried in vain to make a sound to warn them.
"What?" Ladybug's eyes widened as she saw the villain. "Your miraculous - we took it!"
"How is this possible?" Chat echoed, looking around him at the lair in horror. Rena Rouge began coming up.
Hawkmoth chuckled darkly. "You really thought I would let a pair of teens slip from my grasp so easily? They've been under my influence all along, and now my good little minions have delivered all the miraculous right into my grasp." Carapace stepped off the platform and stared around.
"Annabeth and Percy have done nothing but help us," Chat said, but there was an edge of uncertainty in his tone.
"Really? So why would Annabeth hand me back my miraculous? Why would she betray her own teammate?" The fake Hawkmoth pointed at Queen Bee, and she became acutely aware of the horror and shock fixed on her face, and the spinning top stuck to her side.
Chat Noir gasped and rushed over to her. "She's been paralysed by her own venom," he confirmed. All of them turned to stare accusingly at Percy as he rose out of the floor. He blinked.
"Hi?"
"No." Carapace shook his head. "Percy wouldn't betray us, he's too nice."
"Uh, thanks...?"
"But why else would a couple of normal teens be so tangled in the superhero business?" Rena Rouge fretted.
"I don't think they're normal," Ladybug shook her head. "My kwami mentioned that they were... well, she didn't say what exactly but I know they're special."
Percy just looked annoyed. "Where's Annabeth?"
"She gave me the butterfly miraculous and ran before you could go after her."
Percy burst out laughing, looking between the faces of the others. "You don't seriously believe him! You don't, do you? Guys? You can't actually take his word over ours."
"How could he be transformed unless she gave it to him? We all saw Ladybug hand it over to Annabeth."
Percy looked at them in disbelief. "He must be an illusion or something!"
"Convenient excuse," Rena Rouge folded her arms. Before Percy could protest further, there was a female yell from somewhere behind them, followed by a beeping from Queen Bee's miraculous. Since she'd used her power, she probably had four minutes left, then she'd transform back and be able to tell them the truth. Ladybug voiced this to the room.
"That's right," Hawkmoth beamed. "How about we all detransform and get comfy? I know that Ladybug here knows everybody's identities, although... Hmm. Does anyone know hers? No? Not even you, Adrien?"
Chat bared his teeth at the sentimonster. "I trust Ladybug."
"Guys, we need to do the plan," Percy muttered.
"Annabeth's plan? I don't think so!"
"Hey, Annabeth didn't give him the miraculous, and he's probably captured her, so we need to stop talking and make sure she's okay!" Another yell sounded, but this time it sounded pained. Hawkmoth stayed completely still, not even glancing towards the noise.
"How can you be so sure she didn't give it to him?" Rena argued, stepping towards Percy with her hands on her hips.
"Because she gave it to me!" Percy said furiously, pulling the butterfly miraculous from his pocket. "And if none of you are going to rescue her, I will. Nooroo, wings rise!"
