Chat Noir faced Ladybug hopefully.
"Please, bugaboo. I've got it all figured out." She thinks Adrien is good-looking, Ladybug thinks Adrien is good-looking, Ladybug thinks I'm good-looking. "All you need to do is write a note telling him to bring his miraculous somewhere at a certain time if he ever wants to see his son again."
"And I'm writing the note why?"
Because he'll recognise my handwriting.
"Because I'd hate for you to feel left out, Milady, as I'll be sneaking the note into his office and kidnapping Adrien." Kidnapping myself to Marinette's birthday party. Not that my father will know otherwise.
"And why will you be doing the sneaking and kidnapping?"
"Because, bugaboo, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but your bright red suit isn't exactly subtle."
"You have a bell on yours," Ladybug pointed out flatly. He winked at her.
"And you have a yo-yo on yours. Your point is?"
Ladybug sighed. "I'll think about it."
"I guess that's the best I can hope for. I'll be waiting here tomorrow lunch to deliver the note, and I'll grab Adrien after school." Ladybug winced. "You don't need to do anything else."
"I'll think about it," Ladybug repeated, and swung off.
Chat Noir waltzed out of the alley a lot more casually than he felt, and saw the two teens that had been talking to Marinette earlier in front of the hotel, talking to Alya.
"Thank you so much," the girl was saying, clutching her wrist. "I don't know what I'd do without it."
"It's no problem, girl," Alya replied. "I'm sorry Chloé stole it in the first place."
The three noticed him noticing them, so he winked, then leapt into a running start before launching himself into the air with his baton, enjoying the rush air on his face.
When Nathalie let Adrien through the gates and into the mansion, his father was waiting for him.
"Where have you been," he rumbled, glaring at him intimidatingly.
"I went for a walk after school," Adrien said quietly, trying not to fidget as he stared at his shoes.
"Hmm. Next time, inform Nathalie or your driver first. We were looking for you."
"Yes, father."
When Adrien got to his room, he locked the door and let Plagg out of his bag. The kwami flew straight towards the drawer where he kept the camembert. Adrien left him to it and went to take a shower.
When Adrien came out of the shower, there were voices in his room. But the door was locked? He hastily got dressed, then peeked his head around the bathroom door. He was met with a strange sight - Plagg offering his cheese to a red kwami.
"Plagg?" He asked. "Who's that?"
Both kwamis looked up at him, and the red one burst out laughing. "Of course," she said, wiping tears from her eyes. Her voice was sweet and quiet, if a little squeaky. "Everything makes sense now!"
"I don't get why I don't get to know who Ladybug is," grumbled Plagg.
"Wait - you're Ladybug's kwami?" Adrien asked, coming closer. The flying creature nodded.
"I'm Tikki."
"Why are you here? What if she needs to transform?"
"She told me Hawkmoth's miraculous isn't working at the moment, but I can get back very quickly anyway. She asked me to come and check with your kwami if you'd gone rogue or something, and to see what I thought about you kidnapping Adrien. She knew you were lying about some of it, but now I see why. Oh, everything makes so much sense now!"
"It doesn't to the rest of us! Just tell me who she isssss," Plagg moaned.
"I can't, Plagg. You know the rules. It's good to see you again, though."
"I guess," Plagg said, stuffing more cheese in his face.
"You guess?" Adrien asked, "Plagg, that's the first time I've seen you share food with anyone. You two must be soulmates or something," he joked.
The kwamis looked down sadly.
"What?" Adrien asked. "Wait... you're not actually soulmates, are you? They're not a thing."
"Ladybug and Chat Noir are always soulmates, as are we," Tikki said quietly. "But the secret identities mean that Plagg and I hardly ever see each other."
Plagg tried to pretend he wasn't crying.
"Wait... Ladybug and I are soulmates? But... but she's not interested. She's made that pretty clear."
"Always with the love squares," Plagg muttered.
"What do you mean?"
"What he means, is that you love Ladybug, but she loves Adrien. You can never be together unless one of you knows the other's identity."
"But I'm a model! Half of Paris is in love with me!" Adrien despaired. "I'll never find her, unless... Are you going to tell Ladybug that I'm... me?"
Tikki shook her head. "I'm not allowed to. You have to work it out by yourselves. I need to get back to Ladybug now and tell her she can trust you."
The kwami gave Plagg one last hug, then flew out of the window and away.
