Percy and Annabeth, reunited with her bracelet, headed towards the Eiffel Tower as the sun began to set.

"So," Percy said, "are we just going to ignore the fact that we broke the supervillain and also know his identity, or..."

"I'm up for an adventure if you are."

He grinned. "I was hoping you'd say that. So what's the plan?"

First of all, they looked up 'Gabriel Agreste', the man they'd overheard Chat Noir tell Ladybug that Hawkmoth was. They discovered that he was a famous fashion designer, and his son Adrien was a supermodel. His address wasn't hard to find - and neither was his house. The manor was the largest in Paris, equal only to the mayor's residence.

Annabeth had her thinking face on, so Percy kept quiet as they scoped out the building, occasionally pointing out entrances, exits, weak points and the occasional security camera so that Annabeth could label their positions on a sketch she'd done of the building as she planned.

"I think we're done here," Annabeth said eventually. "This is all we can get from outside the gates."

They were just about to leave when a blur of red caught Percy's eye.

"Did you see that?" He asked.

"Yeah. Looks like someone dropped something out of that window."

The two demigods squinted at the shape as it fell, and gasped in unison as it levelled off before it hit the ground and began to fly towards them! As the shape neared the gates, it began to hide behind bushes and dart from hiding-place to hiding-place. Percy and Annabeth pretended to chat as it slipped through the gates, taking the opportunity to get a better look at it. It seemed to be some kind of creature, with a red and black spotted head the size of a tennis ball, a tiny red body, and long antennae. Annabeth frowned at it as it continued along the street, keeping out of sight of pedestrians.

"Welp, there goes my evening," Percy joked just as Annabeth said,

"Let's follow it!"

They began a light jog along the road, pretending they were just two teens out for a run as they kept an inconspicuous distance behind the creature. They passed the hotel where they were staying, and turned onto a busy street. The thing looked around - Percy and Annabeth looked away hastily - and then shot into the air, disappearing over the lip of a balcony.

The pair paused outside the shop below, a family bakery. "What was that thing?"

"I don't know," Annabeth admitted. "Some kind of rare monster?"

"It looked like some kind of super sized..." The pair gasped.

"Ladybug!" They said in unison. "You think that creature has something to do with that superhero?"

"Let's find out." They walked into the shop, a little bell tinkling over the door. A short woman bustled up to them.

"Welcome! Can I help you?"

"Yes actually. We're looking for our friend?" Annabeth said, letting her American accent show.

"Oh!" The woman's eyes widened in recognition. "You must be my daughter's new American friends! She told me about you. Is she expecting you?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Of course, just through the door and up those steps," she smiled.

"Thank you!" Percy called as they followed her directions. They crept up the steps and peeked through the open trapdoor. The room was empty, so they went in and headed towards the balcony they'd seen from below. As they got closer, they heard voices.

"...you sure?"

"Absolutely. You can trust Chat Noir," a squeaky voice was saying. A figure was stood on the balcony with her back to them, silhouetted against the setting sun. The red thing they'd seen hovered beside her. "His plan is safe, he has it all under contr- who's there?!"

The girl's head whipped around, revealing a very familiar face.

"I knew it!" Annabeth hissed as Marinette stared between them and the flying red thing.

"Tikki, hide!" She cried, but the creature - Tikki - just hovered there, frozen.

"You..." it whispered. The demigods exchanged glances. It never ended well when tiny flying red creatures recognised them. "Your auras... I thought your kind died out a long time ago."

"Tikki, what do you mean? These are my new friends... What's going on?"

Percy felt just as confused as Marinette looked, but Annabeth was staring at Tikki with wonder in her eyes. "What are you?" She asked softly, "How do you know what we are?"

"Hold up," Marinette said, bewildered. "What you are? What?! Tikki? Are they miraculous holders too? Is that why the bracelet was such a big deal?"

Tikki just shook her head, still staring. "I have been alive for millennia," she said, "since before the beginning of human civilisation. I have seen those like you rise and fall... I thought your kind fell two thousand years ago."

"WhAt?!" Marinette screeched. "You're two thousand years old? What are you? What are you doing in my bedroom?"

"We're not 2000 years old," Annabeth clarified. "We're sixteen. And your mom let us up."

"Okay... So why does Tikki think you are? And why are you not freaking out? And why are you in my bedroom?"

"Honestly?" Percy asked, "we've seen much, much weirder things than... whatever that is."

"A kwami."

"Okay, and we're here because Annabeth is nosy and wanted to follow the... kwami when we saw her fly out of-" In a flash, Tikki was in front of Percy, tiny red arms over his mouth.

"Don't say where I was! Chat Noir's identity must remain hidden!"

"Chat noir? You mean..."

"..oops."

"Wait, as in- well that's ironic."

"You know who Chat is?" Marinette asked Tikki, surprised.

"Yes," Tikki admitted.

"And you know too?" Marinette asked, looking at them. "Do you know..."

"That you're Ladybug? I had my suspicions already, but the magical flying ladybug kinda confirmed it."

"It's pretty obvious, now that I think about it," Percy said. "Both of you were, actually."

"You can't tell anyone!"

"We won't," Annabeth promised. "We're good at keeping secrets."

"Back to that, what does Tikki think you are? What have you seen that's weirder than her?"

"A lot. You wouldn't believe us if we told you. And as for what we are... we're mortal, like you."

"Mortal? Not.. human?"

"We are human," Annabeth glared at Percy. "...partly," she added under her breath.

Marinette opened her mouth to ask another question, but then there was a crash from outside. "An akuma!" Tikki cried. "Hawkmoth managed to get to someone!"

Marinette glanced between Percy and Annabeth, then said, "Tikki, spots on!"

The demigods watched as the kwami was sucked into Marinette's silver earring, and the girl transformed into Ladybug with a flash of pink light. She looked back at them from beneath her domino mask, before shooting her yo-yo and swinging off.

The demigods stood for a moment in silence, then Percy said, "A yo-yo, though? What kind of rubbish weapon is that?"
