Chapter 22: Rejected

Everyone was happy to see her well again. Amy at first felt a little overwhelmed at all of her friends showering her with affection. Her gaze settled on a fire cat who was silently watching everything unfold. She smiled at Blaze and walked on over.

"Mind if I have a seat?" She asked the fire cat.

"Go for it," Blaze muttered. Amy sat down and looked out the window.

"So, how's the view?"

"Pardon?" Blaze asked, her gaze averting back to the pinkette. However her gaze was on her fiddling hands. "Shouldn't I be asking you that? You just got your vision back."

Amy laughed and sent Blaze a side glance. "True, but I thought I could ask for a different perspective. Sure, I'm glad I can see again," Amy continued, her brows furrowing. "But there are some things I'd rather not see yet."

"You mean..." Blaze's amber gaze flew over to where a cobalt hedgehog argued with her partner.

"It's suffocating. And I'm not the only one." Amy nodded.

"Let him down the way he used to let you down. He's a big boy," Blaze replied. "As for Sally, it was her choice to let him go."

"He loves her though." Amy closed her eyes and leaned back against the cool glass. "Blaze... you remember how I used-- I am psychic? Ever since I got my vision back, I've been getting visions like crazy. One of them was of today."

Blaze rolled her eyes, hating how long it was taking for Amy to get to the point. "Okay? What are you trying to get at?"

"Sonic will confess to me today. And for obvious reasons, I'll reject him."

"You're kind of dumb dude."

"No, it's called 'following my heart'," Sonic replied. He eyed Amy as she was talking to Blaze. By the looks of it, it was serious. He'd rather not interfere if he wanted to live.

"It's called 'acting dumb'," Silver said, making air quotations. "Leave her alone, you've got Sally."

"Sally dumped me several months ago," Sonic replied, his eyes going downward.

Silver stared at Sonic as his emotions began to storm his emerald eyes. "I wonder who's fault that was. You have to admit, you were the one who started to pull away first. Look, I overheard Amy and Sally talking one day, and Sally said she still loved you."

Sonic looked up in shock before looking for the chipmunk. She was talking with Rouge, Knuckles and Scourge. His eyes slightly narrowed. "That has to be a lie. She's flirting with Scourge."

"Is that what you thought it was? It was just playful banter. She still loves you."

"Um..." Both hedgehogs looked up to see Amy standing before them. "Am I interrupting?"

"Not at all!" Sonic sprang up. "Right Silver?"

Silver shook his head. Both in agreement to Sonic and disbelief. He was definitely going to get stomped on. "Not at all, why? Did you need one of us?"

"Um, sort of..." Amy looked over at Sonic. Silver pressed his lips together and peeked around Amy to see Blaze staring right at them.

"Go on right ahead Amy," Silver said, standing up. "I just remembered I needed to tell Blaze something." He patted the hedgehogs shoulder and then moved in closer to whisper in her ear. "Try not to be too harsh."
