The next day

"Let me get this straight. You had an intimate moment-- not like that you nasty hedgehog-- with her, you both confessed you love each other, and you still haven't asked her to be your girlfriend?!" Rouge exclaimed, Shadow wincing as she took care of a bloody scratch on his face.

"Actually two but yes..." Shadow mumbled. Amy had wanted to take care of him, but he assured her that he would heal. Rouge, however, took no bull and set on disinfecting the scratches around his body.

"These ears aren't for show, Hun. I heard that perfectly fine, where was the other one? Pray, do tell."

"...the hospital." Shadow felt every ounce of dignity ooze away from his being. It had been quite a while since he felt this inferior, and that was when he woke up of of his...tube.

He winced again as the sting of the antiseptic did its job. "The hospital?" Her right ear twitched as she reached for gauze. Her eyes widened,"You sly hog, I almost forgot about that!" She started laughing.

Shadow narrowed his eyes. "What exactly do you mean, bat?"

She looked at him fully, hand on her hip. "I mean, you weren't exactly careful when you left a hickey on Amy's neck."

His eyes widened and he abruptly stood up, heat rising to his face. "Thank you for your help, I'll get going."

Rouge laughed as Shadow stiffly made his way to the door. "All jokes aside, you need to ask her out. It's painfully obvious how much you both care for each other, and you haven't done anything to fix that. Her birthday is coming up, ask her out on her birthday. "

Shadow glanced at her one more time before heading out the door. Rouge shook her head.

"What would you do without me, Shadow?"

"Who did you fight with?" Sally asked, dabbing a cotton ball to Sonic's brow. She had already bandaged his torso, and covered a large scratch on his left cheek.l, now she was working on his brow.

"S-Shadow."

Sally froze for a second before continuing. It was no brainer why they fought, or who they fought over. She bit her lip as she continued to tend for him.

She loved him.

She really did. But how much longer would her poor heart take the battering of watching him go after Amy?

Is this how Amy used to feel? And Sally had never noticed. What a friend she was.

"Sal?"

"Hm?" Her baby blue eyes looked up to see his concerned emerald ones.  She began to internally panic.

No! Don't look at me that way! I'll fall harder for you... a blush began to creep on her cheeks and she looked away. A gloved finger made her look at him again. "Are you okay?"

Sally gave him a small smile. "I'm okay."

She continued to tend to him, Wary that Sonic was suspicious of her feelings. She cleared her throat. "So... why exactly did you and Shadow fight?"

"U-um..."

Her ears perked up. That was new, coming from him.
