"Alright Miss Rose. We're ready for you." Amy breathed in deeply and made herself relax. Shadow squeezed her hand.

"You'll be here... right?"

Shadow smiled softly. "Of course, Amy." Amy herself smiled and let out a puff of air.

"Alright, let's do this!" And she marched into the examination room-- with the help of a nurse, of course. They had both been anticipating the day for her to get the bandages to be removed. Of course, she also needed the recovery time. The doctor told them about three to four days in a dark room, slowly increasing light so her eyes would be adjusting.

The doctor also let him be next to her during that duration. Whenever Amy would fall asleep, Shadow was going to call the nurses to bring food and increase lighting. It was a win win, at least in his head.

He couldn't wait to see her again.

They had brought her into a room and laid her down, connecting her to all the instruments. One doctor was a bit harsh, doing something to her arm. "Ouch," she hissed. "Sorry, its kind of hard to see in the dark." The doctor apologized. Amy could hear the other doctor and nurse scold him.

"Alright Miss Rose, the room we are in is going to be your room for the next few days. It is very dim, you'll see some, not all light at once. We'll bring in Shadow in just a bit."

"Uh, I need to go," said the doctor that hurt Amy. "I got called to another appointment. You guys got it covered here, right?"

The nurse sighed. "I suppose. Go." With that the other doctor shuffled out of the door. "We apologize for... his incompetence. He is new here at the hospital. Alright, I will bring Shadow in now."

"Yes please!" Amy said, excited to have him near her again.

The doctor chuckled. "Alright, I'm going to need you to sit up... angle your head a bit... thank you." And he began to unbind the wrap. Footsteps entered the room and around the bed. A warm, gentle yet strong hand grabbed her left hand. The heart monitor began to beep a little faster. "Looks like you're excited to have him here," the doctor commented. Amy blushed and Shadow chuckled, giving her hand a squeeze.

Finally the wrap was off. Next he took off two cotton swabs that were covering her eyes. "Alright, you may open your eyes."

Amy took a breath in.

Three weeks without being able to see a world with color. Now she would be able to. Her eyes slowly began to open, and at first, nothing. But then, she could see it. The dark, murky colors of the dim room they were in. Everything was blurry. Her eyes swivled to the left and saw a black and red blob. Her eyes then flickered to the right and saw a blob of white, blue and another dark color.

"E-everything is blurry," she murmured.

Shadow's P.O.V.

Her eyes were very unfocused. Confused almost. She looked over at me, and I could see how confusion and fear slowly mixed. I thought she would be happy. A feeling of protection and utter dread began to fill me. I couldn't really do anything as it wasn't in my immediate parameters.

"E-everything is blurry," she murmured. Her hold on my hand tightened, I could feel her trembling. I frowned, brows creasing. I moved and sat down on the bed next to her, pulling the trembling hedgehog into my arms. She flinched slightly before closing her eyes and burrowing herself into my chest.
